2012 boat/sportsman show?
« on: February 26, 2012, 10:44:21 AM »
Who is all going this year? I think it has been a waste of money for many years. Same bs every year with less vendors for hunting/ fishing sections. Whats your opinions guys?

Well the last time I opened my mouth on another forum about it I got into trouble.  A certain speaker at the show thought opposite of me and did not like what I was saying.

For me personally I have not gone for a few years.  It used to be way better when I was a kid 15 years ago or even more.  If your into quads , boats and maybe trips to go fishing then it might have something for you as there is a pile of that.  I used to go to get deals on hunting gear and it doesn't seem like much is for sale anymore.  There isn't as much hunting stuff either.  I think they have been trying to make it better but for me I like the Huntfest better.  Better speakers, more hunting stuff and to me I like it more.  Just my 2 cents.

A few new speakers this year but of course there are the same old ones as well and that gets old really fast.  I might go but I am not much into commercialized hunting and fishing.  Way too many experts around for the stubborn old school types like me.
I think I see a rip in the social fabric, Brother can you spare some ammo?

Ya, it's time they got rid of Schwanky and his cronie and replaced them with some new faces and fresh ideas. I haven't been to the show for about 5 years now but I hear it's the same ole same ole.

I dont know about the Edmonton one , unless its grossly changed from last year to which I highly doubt not really worth it .  ITs the largest boat and sportsmen show in north america , I know as I was going to put a booth in there and be stuck with a bunch of as seen on tv folks I with drew my booth .

I can go to the local RV or boat dealer to look at boats galore , thought it was sportsmen show .. But what can ya do . Red deer sportsmen show is sapost to be good ,on a waiting list to get in on that one .

I know they are the same thing every year but personally I don't mind them.. Heck its still a better day than at work and its better than walking around the mall with momma lol. For us its just a time to get away and get into the city for the day,, usually drop momma off some place and the boys and I head in for a few hrs. I enjoy just walking around and meeting people, talk to a few people its enjoyable to be in a crowd that everyone basically has the same enjoyments in life as you do. A person doesn't have to worry about starting up a conversation about killing something. I don't know if I have ever bought anything at any of the shows but its still fun to go see whats out there. Enjoy talking to the boys from the west coast lodges and loading up on info..

I will say that after going to the Calgary show twice and many years at the Edmonton show I beleive the Edmonton show to be a better show.

I will agree that they could get rid of Niel and Bob though,, was tired of watching them fish in an aquarium years ago..

Never been to one, not cause I don't want to go, just never seem to find the time to go.  If anything I probably just end up going fishing...;D
