A note to our members
« on: August 11, 2011, 10:12:26 PM »
I just want to say thanks to everyone for their continued support here. We are growing daily, and it's thanks to everyone who participates.

Some of you who have joined here, or may just be lurking, might have been directly discouraged to participate in this community by key members of other communities. It's unfortunate, but not unexpected. I just want to make a few things perfectly clear.

We are not going to give up on this community, ever.

This community is not going away, ever.

With the support of this community we personally intend to challenge some of the long standing patronage and control of the outdoor community in Alberta.

If you have been discouraged to sign up here keep in mind that it's out of fear of losing control of the community. At the end of the day the only thing that matters is that we get out and enjoy everything this great province has to offer, collectively or individually.

Thanks.

Well said Paul.

A.S. will grow, nothing happens over night and summer is a slow time. I frequent a few Sk forums and it's slow everywhere.
WTS, hunting season is just around the corner, then your gonna see things piuckup.

No issue with the traffic here guys, it's actually been brisker than I expected. Just want everyone to know we are in it for the long haul, this isn't a business, it's a real community for the members.

Is that what they are saying on the other forum?  I would suspect they don't even let you talk about this forum or any other for that matter.

Well said Paul!

And its pretty funny how insecure others on other sites are to try and keep members from participatring and knowing about other sites. Thats what I like about the guys here. They know that if members are treated right and the site is kept up to date then it can do nothing but flurish, they know that the hearth and soul of any forum is its members and they treat them as such here!

Just curious what "the long standing patronage and control of the outdoor community in Alberta" would be that you are challenging?

Good stuff Paul,, good little pep talk..

Are there honestly other sites,, ( we all know which one ) that is trying to discourage people from joining here ?? pretty sad.. This is a great place and really its busy enough for me. I really don't care to hear about every damn little thing that goes on in somebody's daily life you know.. Its good to here how people are doing but keep it simple.. Don't care to read 4 pages of info on shooting magpies in your back yard,, yah know what I mean..

This place will grow and become the "TRUE" voice for Alberta sportsman it will happen.

Well well, it's Muskeg, in for the troll.

How's the site loading for you? Still takes 7 minutes?

Well said Paul, I like to think slow periods are due to us getting out and enjoying the outdoors and the activities that go along with it. I know I really enjoy those who share their stories about hunting fishing, etc. I don't hunt......yet but I can only imagine some of you guys are chompin at the bit to get going this season.

Cmon Muskeg, really? You disappear for a couple months, then suddenly you show up to ask one question?

Just nip any mindless bickering and obvious armchair expert argue-ers in the bud and this site will continue to grow.

If on the other hand it gets to looking like the, "other" site well, as far as me personally, I don't like babysitting, and I don't argue with children, irregardless of age.

Sorry Paul, I've been working in northern BC with no net for most of the summer. I finally get home for a couple of days, come back here and ask a simple question and you tear into me? Where's the love?  ;D

We are building slowly here, and no we don't have the traffic of other sites but in time it will keep getting busier and busier.  Thanks everyone for your participation!

" Just curious, where's the love" how many times have I heard that in the past. Try changing the spin of your words the next time you decide your bored on AO.

TJ, go to **** back to were you came from. Isn't it time to write another bullshit article for Rob's dwindling magazine?
