" Just curious, where's the love" how many times have I heard that in the past. Try changing the spin of your words the next time you decide your bored on AO.

TJ, go to **** back to were you came from. Isn't it time to write another bullshit article for Rob's dwindling magazine?

No I'm not TJ. Although that would be fun. I think he has the coolest job ever. Sorry I haven't been around but like so many others life has been busy. Can I ask what lock on the outdoor world we are taking on? And how did huntefest go? I think you had plans to be there? I never made it of course.

I have no idea what you are talking about, I never said anything about a lock. I am referring to a real voice for Alberta outdoor enthusiasts, a real community, a community that can work together to influence how things are managed in Alberta, such as the insistence that every lake in Alberta needs to be managed as a sport fishery for walleye, even at the expense of other species. I am talking about the weakness of some key people who are involved in the outdoor community. People so weak that they won't confront the issue they might have with Alberta Sportsman but insist on approaching, confronting and challenging members directly about them joining Alberta Sportsman, like they are owned.

I have no idea how Huntfest was I didn't make it,there's a thread about it at Alberta Outdoorsmen though head on over there here's the link http://www.outdoorsmenforum.ca/showthread.php?t=100619&highlight=huntfest or post in The Hunting Chronicles board they had a booth there.

Thanks again , Paul.  It is good to be part of something that is appreciated and thought of as a community of like minded individuals; instead of a bunch of pee-ons that are only perceived as customers.  I decided not to provide free advertising to a rat pack of self proclaimed know it alls that feel that they are the voice of outdoorsman in Alberta.  I could always feel the lack of appreciation to the contributing members of the other site for providing free outdoors pics, information, and knowledge unless they were part of the obvious clique.  Just a rant about "why do I provide this site" or "this site costs me a ton of money" from the owner.  That turned me off big time.  I still read that site as there are still many good individual members there but I don't contribute anymore due to the condescending non-appreciative attitude.

And as Walleyes said earlier, who the hell cares to read a bunch of pathetic drivel about the day to day lives of members that rarely hunt, fish, camp, etc.  Some only seem to want to arrange meet and greets every time they venture out of their homes or give a running commentary about every little thing they do.  Best of all we don't have a scrutinizer from Okotoks that questions every topic ever posted.

I also feel confident that Alberta Sportsman Forum will grow and flourish simply because of the upbeat attitude and freedom of speech and of course its many great members who I can respect and learn from.  I will support this forum in the future and promote it as the go to place for Alberta hunting and fishing discussion.

X1000  There's still some good people over there, with lots to contribute, but in the last couple years I've really seen that site take a downward turn with the influx of people who seem to have little or no interest in the outdoors, and all their constant updates every time they fill their car with gas, read a newspaper article, tear off a duece, ect...... many of them seem to feel is necessary for all of us to read about.  And don't even get me started on the Ken07/Fishingmom show.  Gawd.  It's not just irritating and annoying, but kind of creepy and disturbing too.
Thanks to axeman for giving me the heads up about this site, and thanks to the owners and adminstrators too.

Just a question Bambi... you ever seen this forum mentioned over there? Have you ever seen anyone say they saw something here and brought it up in a forum there? Have you ever seen Rob supply a link to a thread here for info that has been brought up as Paul has?  Maybe try starting a thread over there and ask what they all think of the new site, and how many are joining. LOL see how long it stays up! And possibly how long before your in the company of the rest of us banned members.

Im guessing no. I know a few guys that have mentioned this site and its immediatly removed. Its insecurity and little man syndrome running things over there. All the other forums I belong in dont worry about the other sites, they even let me put up threads promoting this site.

Like other5s have stated there are lots of great guys still over there but its only a matter of time until they start making the move too. Still alott of guy there that havent heard of this site but the word is slowly getting around.

The site itself will make it flourish but the poor operations of other sites will also help it out!

I think you're probably bang-on sheepguide, I'd never even heard about this site (and I'm on there quite a bit) until like I said, axeman told me about it.  I'm sure that more guys will start making the move, I just hope that it's the right ones so that this site doesn't end up with all the same R-Tards, and all the BS that they'll bring with them.  Hell, I'd rather see Boberama back on here than some of those idiots LOL.

Paul, just an idea I want to float.  What about taking an ad out in the fishing and hunting regulations to promote this site?  It might choke Sports Scene but you have as much right to advertise as anyone.  AO has ads in the regs to promote their forum (fishing regs page 4).  I would also love to see some articles by some new writers in the back of the regs also if they must be there at all.  I wonder what would happen if some of us here submitted some articles for the regs to ASRD and Sports Scene?  Darcy, you have the experience to write some good stuff.......

Good Idea AXE.  Why can't we raise a few bucks to make it happen.  I'd donate 20$ to the cause no problem.  If we had even 100 guys do that then that is some good coin we could use to advertise.  Maybe we could be a sponsor on AO :o

I was already refused to advertise in the hunting and fishing regs. I have sent several emails to Paul at Sportscene requesting advertising info. The first time I approached it I was told it wasn't full, they were supposed to send me pricing and placement info and I was told I had a week to get my ad in. When they found out if was for Alberta Sportsman I received a 2 word reply stating "it's full". I emailed back and cc'ed Rob, but he was too weak to reply, his sales guy replied. I have since had my email requests for pricing info completely ignored. I have contacted Mel Knights office in regards to this issue.

Furthermore I am really not impressed with the hunting and fishing regs, it's way too bloated with ads and articles anyway. I called the SRD last week about getting permission to republish the regs ad and article free. As the actual regulation portion is Alberta Law and belongs to the public domain I can't see it being illegal if it's non profit, but I will be contacting my lawyer next week about it and looking into it as there is a disclaimer about republishing. I am certain it only applies to the article and ad portion, not the legal portion. If we are able to do it I have several oil and gas service companies willing to step up and support the printing cost, including my own company. It would be distributed as an option for those who want a quick reference to the laws without having to weed through pages upon pages of ads and articles.

Yes it would be nice to just be able to pick up a set of regs and be able to get to the point and not sort threw all the usual drivel thats been associated with it the last few years.

Paul,, I would be willing to kick in a couple hundred to help the cause as well.. P.M. me if this thing goes through and we will get some money headed that way..

I think we need a few more guys sending letters to Mel Knight about this issue of not being able to advertise this board in a public venue.. I am not much of a speech writer but I would sure throw my name on any petition if someone wanted to get one going. What ever it takes to get this site growing it is so badly needed in this province.

The fact is Terry some people are unwilling to use their influence to the common good of the community. We pay for the whole works, all the programs. We pay for the biologists, and the enforcement. If we don't like something shouldn't we have a voice to challenge what's going on? If we don't like the hunting regs, shouldn't we be able to say so? We pay for the ****ing thing. So why can't we say something about it? Why can't we ask that certain things be changed?

I realize some places are run specifically as a business, that the actual passion for the sport and the Province have long fallen by the wayside. This place is completely impartial to that. This place will be a real voice for Alberta sportsmen.

We so badly need a change of government in this province and with it a change of attitude. The whole concept of hunting and fishing in this province has shifted from what it is supposed to be and that is a public ran entity built around family and friends enjoying the outdoors together gathering foods for themselves. This government has turned this thing into a commercial prospect and only the money talks. If this government can't see a buck in it for themselves and their select few they don't want any part of it. It has to be profitable for them or they refuse to discuss it. We are living in a dictatorship the worst that the whole country has seen probably ever. Now don't get me wrong guys I am a conservative to the core. But what our provincial government has turned into is a real shame. Its just really an embarrassment is what it is, an embarrassment to conservatives this country wide. This whole issue that we are discussing boils down to this one issue. Rob and his cronies have a voice inside those doors and have a lock on what they are doing. I would like to know, do those publications go out on a yearly bid or are they just awarded to Sportscene and if they are just awarded this has to conflict with public policy.

We have to keep the fight up and get the voice of the people over to the people. And that means all the people,, not just the voices that one person or a few chosen people by one said person have. Why can't more people see what this place is about,, why can't they open their eyes and see what takes place over there. A bunch of lost sheep and puppies just looking for their little pat on the head for being loyal to their masters. Masters that controls their speech and controls the media they are a part of.

You guys can't imagine how refreshing it is to hear this and to hear of the effort that Albertasportsman is putting into getting some simple answers to these issues. There is a small clique that has an inside line to doors that are closed to most of us and it is obvious that this is the case. To finally be able to have these conversations can only strengthen the entire system. For some this may be painful but the last time I looked the idea of democracy was still intact in the province. We should be getting the biggest bang for our dollars and no one person or group should have exclusive rights to the govt. purse.

Nothing pisses me off more than be forced fed by "The Voice of Alberta's Hunters, Anglers & Trappers" knowing full well that is the furthest thing from the truth.

You have my full support so by all means let me know how I can help.

I asked that question Friday. Once I get some answers I will share them.

I think over the long haul Sportscene did a pretty good job with it, but I think it's gotten too stale, bloated and should be revisited. I think it has simply become a matter of convenience for the SRD.
