OK guys this is just going down the wrong path, bickering is not achieving much. This forum is for hunting and fishing, AO is AO and it's run the way the people there choose to run it, Bambi has a good point, the rules there are very clear, it's not like someone is playing a shell game there, and if folks don't like the system there they are more than welcome here where things are a lot less business orientated and restrictive.

Hunting season is just around the corner, and although I won't get much time in the field this year due to work and family I sure am looking forward to any days I can spend chasing whitetails around. I think that's what we should be discussing.

Yes you could see it as bickering but I also see a lot of pissed off people Paul.  When you get people that are miss treated and reighned over with an iron fist is does not sit well with people.  Yes some of us are quite vocal and deserve a time out but a complete bann without a chance to come back after one offence is unreasonable in my mind and that seems to have happened on more than one occasion from the sounds of it.  We have a great thing here and after another short stint at the other place it is sure way better here.  I still like to see what goes on over there and enjoy a picture or 2 and a story but the atmosphere here is way better.  Hopefully we grow a little bigger over the season and get more people on board.

I look forward to the pictures and storeies which will be on here in the next little while.  It is going to be a fun season.  Sheep hunt is next week for me already.  Hope to kill a cranker and get a couple buddies one as well.

I don't disagree Nube but the thing is that's how it is and arguing about it here doesn't solve the problems there. Some things will never change. This community is growing daily but keep in mind we will have several members who might frequent both websites. If you have a legitimate beef go ahead, by all means discuss the issue, but straight bashing and fighting amongst ourselves doesn't solve the problem.

I agree 100% Paul, lets leave all the bickering and fighting over there and keep all the stories, pics and good discussion here! There are more and more people checking this site out everyday, and with the growing membership the forum will only get better.
Glad to be a part of it!
Dave.

Paul is right about the bickering and bashing, but its tough sometimes to bite ones tongue. I personaly got into many altercations elsewhere that I could have just walked away from and maybe should have but we beleive in what we do and we stand by that.
We have already prooven that most of us members that have been removed or had issues from other sites are level headed and get along here so are we really the problem! Most werent banned for being trouble maker it was for being our own person and sticking to our beleifs and opinions and not bowing down to the personal opinions of others.
Them sites and members else where are their own worst enemy and will eventually hang themselves, as hard as it is not to get into the discussion about Alberta Outdoorsman its true that its best just left alone. 90+ percent of the members here have the exact same thoughts and then what happens is the couple members that are here but still AO loyal try and protect their pals and the other sites and all that does is drag us down to there level just as they did elsewhere!
As hard as it is, AO is a topic we all should just avoid.

The Sportscene deal is a different deal altogether, they are messing around directly trying to affect this forum negativly so as to benifit themselves. That we do need to keep going at. We the people have to stand up to this type of crap or they will continue to walk all over us for their personal gain.

Hey guys interesting conversation.

Paul good on you for taking up the issue, it is an issue that keeps popping up all over the province and one that I personally believe stems from having a long standing group in power.

Paul is dead on it has nothing to do with the other store, I might buy my groceries at Sobeys and you might be loyal to IGA it doesn't matter. Service, quality of product, price and all the other things that go into making a quality business is how I'll decide where to go. We now have a choice with regards to online hunting issues which can only be good, the problem comes when unfair preferential treatment or access to decision makers is not allocated equally. How that happened or why it is in place is also not the issue the issue is fixing the problem so that everyone has equal oppurtunity. As so often happens in the province friends of influential people in govt. have the access and others are blocked. This isn't just an issue for AS it is an issue for everyone in the province.

I have my fair share of issues with the other store but it has nothing to do with this thread and really is something I'll deal with on my own.

Keep on the high road.

Paul let us know how we can help.

One must remember that A.O. board is a spin off from their magazine. Their board is an extension of that business. The board as I see it is there to generate revenue as well.  IE:  banner ads Posts from there writers and contributing writer as well as hunting show hosts.

Is it wrong in what they select to be on their board? I don’t know. They are the ones hosting the site paying for the web storage space and providing free use of the site as long as you follow their rules.

As for the voice of the outdoorsmen I don’t think anyone group should ever hold that position. Way too much opportunity to create a personal agenda!!  If a collative group from all the Alberta Bulletin boards could band and speak for the outdoorsmen I think that would be more powerful and more unified. Minus the Archer vs. firearms/ (crossbow) debate of seasons

I take all boards for what they are, fun, enjoyment and a chance to share stories with other like minded outdoors people. And if by chance I create some friendships along the way that is a bonus.

This forum has what it takes to be a great one (all ready a good one). Good people with a willingness to share info and stories. Give feedback on ways they have done things easier through trial and error. Share stories and pictures. Let’s just not ruin it by internal squabbling and bashing. I for one could care less what one board says about another. I enjoy it for what it is. A place to enjoy reading and talking about the great land we have here in Alberta

I read both forums , as I purely enjoy both . After All the whole Idea is the OUTDOORS . Not to bitch and moan about another forum , It is what it is and leave it at that . It is crap that they are not allowing you to advertise in the Regulations . Perhaps a letter or conversation with the media if nothing is returned from SRD and Premier .

Paul this is a great place , There's nothing wrong with competition . But when your flat out denied shows how spineless some people , companys whatever have you can really be . Keep what your doing its great . Ive been away for most of the spring and summer been very busy with my trips and fishing and my business , and now Finally get to go out and do some hunting which will be great .

Stay the course Paul.

I see this board as a huge improvement for one major reason - everyone checks their ego at the door.

You can do that when it's not about economic gain, affiliations and protecting prized pony's...

For that reason, rather than look back lets just help make this board the place folks want to come to share stories and ideas.

As for the regulations, the denial of your request to advertise there is a huge conflict of interest. I would think the current political climate might be a great time to continue to inquire and push the issue. Are there other venues that we could promote this forum?

Hey Paul, I thought it went sideways a long time ago.
Some months back I joined up here and at first I thought it was just a bunch of guys who were banned from the other forum getting together to lick their wounds and throw stones.  Then I could see that there ws some constructive discussions going on and the forum may have some good value.

A thread like this one shows off the lack of quality of this forum.

I'll go off and see what else is going on in some other areas.

I beg to differ deerman. I think this is a quality place, with quality people, and there hasn't been any bashing here, this is an old post already, and you managed to dig it up when I was hoping it would just die, good job. Look around some other boards, you can find flaming, bashing threads anywhere you go. If it's 1 out of 1000 I am not too concerned over it.

Sorry Paul
I didn't realize it was an old post.
And I am sorry I "dug it up"

Looking through some other areas I didn't see so much negative stuff.
