Well it's 24 hours after surgery and so far things are looking good.Finger is pink and warm but Doc said if it turns blue or cold then to call him right away.
Next week I go back to have the bandages removed.Until then he wants me to keep it clean, dry and immobile.

So it looks like I won't be doing any hunting for awhile but... I still have my finger and that's a good thing..  :)

Hey Sonny:

How long are you looking at for this injury to heal?

Are you going to need physiotherapy for the nerves?

Is the injury going to affect the way you shoot a gun or cast a rod?

Just wondering.

Glad to see things are looking good.

Take Care. :)

Well it's been a week since surgery and today the bandages came off.Doc said that the skin graft was looking very good.
Really Doc REALLY?

My finger looks like a hungry beaver has been gnawing on it. :o

He says it will get better and that the skinny part will mostly fill in but it will take a long long time.

The good news is that I have full function of my finger and surpisingly it doesn't hurt as much as you would think.

Mind you Tramadol helps..  ;D

Good to hear you are on the mend, but that looks brutal.

Hey Sonny:  Show that finger to the kids at the front door on Halloween.

Seriously, Take care and watch that Tramadol.

I broke a couple of vertebrae about a year ago in a fall.  A guy can get to liking that pain killer stuff.

Good to see you are healing up.

Take Care.

Rings at work can be very dangerous. I was only a young pup in my 20's and we were loading hay off a truck and into the front end loader of the tractor. After we finished I decided I would play Tarzan and grabbed the bucket to swing down to the ground. When I let go I literally hund from the bucket by my ring finger and damn near tore my finger off. It took a good 6 months before it was good again.

All the best on your mending Sonny, your a lucky man you didn't lose it.

Good to see Sonny.

Was just thinking, be hard for you to go to the bar and pick up strays now hey lol, pretty hard to hide the ring marks.

I joke of course.

Man sonny it looks better, but still must fell weird between the fingers like that. I burnt my hand pretty bad back in the 70', and still have trouble with it today. I think out of all my life war scares, my burn was the most painful.

Glad to see it's healing up ok.  Pretty good reminder how dangerous those batteries can be.  There is the odd day once in a while where I spend all day changing those things to power wellsite controls and man it's so easy to get complacent.  I have been lucky not to have anything major like that happen yet, and I really mean lucky, it can happen so fast.  I remember a fellow I used to work with putting a pretty good tattoo in his hand with a bare ground wire.
