Screw them and their tags..
As one of the maggots, I'll like having not to sign in. I post mostly on another board, but I'm not a prolific poster and mostly lurk there and occasionally here. I'm on CGN but rarely go there unless I'm buying something, partly because of having to login. I'm sure some of you like to lurk on AO -I like that you don't have to sign in if you dot want to. Once the board has grown sure, but while you're trying to grow it you might slow it down as people like to have a look before deciding to join or not.
Rocks,, we certainly don't think everyone over there is a a maggot
totally agree
Great idea Jimmy. Why didn't I think about that.
I am not sure if it is a good idea or not. I can see both sides to this.Rocks might be right in this respect: "Once the board has grown sure, but while you're trying to grow it you might slow it down as people like to have a look before deciding to join or not."And Guido points out that members are usually grossly out numbered by guests: "This is who is online right now: 53 Guests, 6 Users "Most forums don't lock out content, just pics usually. CGN is one that does lock out the content for non-members.Getting back to the maggots reference and what Walleyes said: "Rocks,, we certainly don't think everyone over there is a a maggot,, most of us belong to both sites." and that goes for the majority of guys too. This leads me to think of the old idiom: You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar....but for sure when you have a lot of flies there are going to be a few maggots too....I think I have to tend say that we might be better off focusing on making this an interesting place with good and free discussion and pictures (private); and that in turn will attract some the guests to join in. Many of these guests may be good future contributing members. Locking them out could drive more away than forcing them to overcome their curiosity and join up.
