Another politician out of touch?
« on: March 06, 2015, 01:47:15 PM »
So after over 4 decades of spending our money like spoiled rich kids, its our fault our province's financial situation is in trouble?
Been talking to a wide variety of people, who now see what a mistake voting for the P.Cs has been.
One thing that comes up is what party to vote for. Many feel we need the United Farmers of Alberta party back. Someone who knows how to like within a budget and save. Unlike the governing clowns we now have.
Start arguing any time, but we need a change.

No arguement here.  Our current anti property rights anti personal freedom fiscally incompetent gov't has been doing this province and it's residents a disservice for many years now.

Currently the only viable choice is the Wildrose. Despite the left wing's claims, there are a lot of good people standing behind the Wildrose banner.

Meanwhile:

Just received an email about a leadership debate(couldn't copy/paste it, so here's the gist of it):

Monday, March 9th
7-9PM
Black Knight Inn
Red Deer

There will be a live feed on the wildrose website.

My local MLA Drew Barnes is running;  he's a good guy and would be a good choice for the position; or premier for that matter IMO.

Unlike too many politicians he doesn't "need" the job. Big difference between someone who serves from a sense of duty and those for whom politics are the best job they've ever had.

Personely I can't help but agree with Prentice on this matter. He is right iti is all of our faults.. First off we keep voting the same party in. Second it's the people that want everything shiney and brand new all the time. Where does it come from.. Yes there is waste but in the end the politicians spend it on things we ask for.. We as the voting public have to share in this mess,, no two ways about it.. There is no party on the world,, no leader in the world left in powere as long as this party has been in and not get out of touch,, not a chance. It's our fault !! The PC party has done great things for this province there is no two ways about it,, but it's time for a shake up..

We live in a democratic society don't blame the government when the government isn't doing what we want. Blame the people for not voting in the right government,, END OF STORY !!

If you're suggesting those who voted pc are to blame that would be one way to put it, although I suspect that wasn't prentice's meaning.

Unfortunately most are too busy on facebook and the like to be bothered to do any actual research.  Ignorant voters are the left's best ally.  Case in point being the AB pc's.  Despite all the info that was available few bothered to do any research whatsoever.  I wonder how many even know the candidate's names in their local riding.

The internet literally gives us the wealth of the knowledge of mankind at our fingertips.  Most visited site:  google.  Second most visited site:  facebook.
I joke google is only first because many can't find facebook.   :P

Remember bills 19, 24 and 36?  Pc voter's don't have a clue what they are, yet all will affect their lives in negative ways.

The only way to effect positive change is to get involved at the grassroots level.  Remember Edward Burke's famous quote.

And That, my friend is the bottom line at the end of the story.

And there in lies the biggest problem Bruce,, people just don't give a damn anymore until it's to late. No one is informed and no one cares. They just stand back and complain when things aren't right but do little to try and change it.

In the words of Capt. Phil Harris.

You can watch things happen, you can make things happen, or you can wonder what the f*ck just happened !!

Lead, follow, or get the f&^k out of my way has always been my favorite saying.

Never heard the one by Phil Harris, although it pretty much sums it up doesn't it?

Prentice has been doing a lot of yapping and he finally put his foot in his mouth.
It will not hurt him much though.

Wildrose is done, not even an option.  The few good people left there better realize that name is mud.  Damage was done and severely.
NDP will gain some ground with Rachel but ultimately the NDP is not an option for Albertans.  They are not fiscally responsible.....period.
But neither are the PC's and they have proved that for the last 40 years....lol.

There will be lots of bitching and complaining until the next boom.....that's it.
The minority of people that lived conservatively within their own means will be relatively unaffected other than some increased tax pain.
The greedy bastards that needed all the toys on credit will suffer.

Now, the real challenge.  How does Alberta diversify its revenue generation in the future?  The other big issue is finding some leaders that are not spend crazy in good times.  They do not exist currently in our political spectrum.  Nut jobs like Mandel, Lukaszuk, Horne, Iveson, Nenshi still exist in our various levels of government.

My advice.  Vote for an individual that best represents true fiscal conservatism and will deliver on that and forget about the party.

I am gonna have to use that one!!

The time for change was at the last election.  We made the change in the south but unfortunately the rest of the province got nervous and voted PC.  Since then the PC have destroyed the Wildrose and, as Axeman states, there just isnt a viable alternative out there.  PC's will get voted in again.  Then again, I don't trust any politicians or political party.  They all give in to get votes, we would still be at the same place, regardless of the last elections vote (except maybe no private jet to South Africa! LOL).
