Any takers?
« on: June 17, 2012, 08:57:05 PM »
I am booking a cabin up at Davin Lake for a 3 day fishing trip. I have already been talking to the owners and the dates should be around the first of August. I have to get back to them in the next few days to confirm and put down a deposit. I am driving up ( about 6 hrs north of P.A. ) and taking my own boat and motor. I will be alone and was thinking I'd better hire a guide for safety sakes. If I could find someone willing to go I would sure save a heap of money on fishing guides and perhaps make a new fishing partner. The rates are fairly cheap for a 4 night stay at $65 per night, per person.
$10 for breakfast and $20 for supper, all home cooked meals. NOT BAD I'd say!

You can expect to catch trophy size pike, walleye and lakers.

If you are interested please PM me as soon as possible. I'd be pleased to answer any questions you have, and can send you their website.

Wish I knew if I was going to be off then. I'd go with you for sure Tuc. Just can't commit that far ahead. Should be a great trip. Hope you find someone to go with you.
I hunt sheep to see over the next mountain not to measure the next trophy!

Man I would in a heart beat but the wife will be in Alaska expecting me to keep the home fires burning the first week of August.  I was up there with the family a couple years ago in August and it was wonderful.  Make sure you have spares for the truck and trailer cause there are sharp rocks for 6 hours.   I'd also recommend some top water lures for pike[too much fun], Buzz bombs for Lakers and at least a few 3/8 ounce jig heads for the Walleye.

A come on you guys, WHIMPS!  lol   (kidding)

Pitw, were you up at Davin or was it a different lake. Ya I was checking into those buzz bombers, it's about the only thing I don't have in my tackle box.

I can't bear it any longer, I'm going with or without a partner.

We spent 4 days at wathaman and 3 at Davin.  Lot's of rocks to grab a good hold of a hook so spares is a plan.
Wife is back on the third of August.  I know now cause I asked.  Now she is curious about what I'm up to. ::)

Hey guys, just an update here. Had a friend here in Sask interested in going up for a trip in August. I booked the dates in and was ready to send a deposit to the owners. Lucky for him he decides to cancel before the cheque was put in the mail. I was a little choked because I would have lost some money ....(I was collecting his share the following week) Disappointed the trip wasn't happening too. I was still going to do it alone but my wife objected strongly. She hates it when I go hunting or fishing alone, for safety reasons.

To make a long story short, I called the owners and explained the situation, they were very understanding and assured me I didn't put them out one bit by cancelling. If I had, I would have sent the deposit to them anyhow. I don't want to start out on a sour note with them, I have a long time fishing buddy in Ab moving here to Sask and we plan on making this a yearly trip so I do want to stay on good terms with this lodge.

If any of you guys have some time in the fall and would like to chase some walleyes at Tobin, feel free to PM me. Tobin would be back and forth day trips because I'm only an hour away. Lots of room here on the acreage and you can bunk out in the trailer so basically free board. All I ask is to split the cost of gas for truck and boat.
Chris K. had a bunch of posts on here (or was it facebook) about the walleye fishing at Tobin last fall. I believe it was early October they were hammering the eyes on the south Sask side of lake. Chris if your sandbagging refresh our memories but I do remember you saying the fishing was good that time of the year. I can't go in October because it would cut into my moose season but hope to spend a few days at the end of Sept on Tobin.
I scrapped the idea of going to Davin anymore this year because the lodge closes in early Sept and I'm not sure if there is any other access to a boat launch. Next spring come hell or high water, I am making that trip. The lakers will be up and thats what I want to fish.

Sorry if I sounded a little grouchy, I didn't expect this guy to cancel out on me like he did....Shit happens I guess!
