Blue Jays
« on: October 15, 2016, 04:32:50 PM »
Who's on the Blue Jays train. Been getting into it the last couple years. We watch pretty steady early in the summer then once football starts we pay more attention to the CFL and catch the odd game here and there but come payoffs we start paying attention again.

They are getting up tight with the Indians. Seems like they are either hot or not. I don't think the long break did them any good.

After winning the wild card games, they where dancing on the field acting like they won the world series. I don't think they are focused at all, the manager should have been kicking their ass and telling them they have won nothing yet.

Yep, tough to come back now. Thing about most pro sports these days is to repeat a good year is very hard. So saying wait till next year is not really true any more.

Ya, I have been a steady Blue Jays watcher for several years.  Not just a band wagon jumper here.
They are a hard team to get behind 100%.  They are a hot and cold team and rely on the long ball game.
Just like last year they won the ALDS and celebrated like rock stars but are fizzling in the ALCS and in a another hitting slump.
You either live or die with the home run ball but the more balanced teams are now rising to the top.  The Indian's pitching is shutting down the big swingers on the Jays now.
Watching Bautista is painful when he is pitched against well.  He is hitting like .167 in the post season and in a real slump lately.  I hate the guy, he has to always be a hero and take the big cut even when he should just make contact with the ball and move the runner in certain situations.  Bautista is a show boater when doing well and the biggest pouter when not.  He sure found out how not to lead with his mouth when he challenged Oder to that fight in the spring.  Now Donaldson can balance power with contact hitting and is pulling his weight.
The Jays are all but done now, too bad they couldn't have taken a more focused shot at Indians.

They did, but I think AxeMan has it right though,  the Indian's pitching will get them. Getting on base has won more games than home runs. But hey, we get to watch them at least one more time this season.

Donaldson had a great game both offensively and on defense and in my opinion won the game for them.  That play he made on the Santana blast in the top of the 5th with Perez on second likely saved the game and changed the momentum and that is huge for the Jays.
Encarnacion and Carrera had a good game too with 2 hits each.
Estrada is starting tomorrow for the Jays so they might pull one more out.

Yep your right, you are a steady Blue Jay's watcher and I'll take your word for it. I only watch sports at peak times anymore, but I have a buddy like you that can tell the "Tale of the Tape" if you will. I admire that, give's a part time guy like me a bit more insight. And here you though I knew what the hell I was talking about.  ;)

Well, that's that.  Jays couldn't even put one run on the board today.  Swinging for the fences again but run into more good pitching.
Go Indians.
Cubs will have a tough time coming back on the Dodgers.

To bad, but The Indians do deserve to move on. Really it was not a battle anyway.
