Cabelas - Edmonton
« on: July 10, 2011, 10:31:24 PM »
Anyone know when the official open date will be for the Edmonton store?

Just spent a day at the Cabelas and left with an empty wallet and an SUV full of gear.  A liitle sad how much cheaper the gear is in the states compared to buying locally.  Not sure what the major issue is; shipping or market pricing but it was sad to see the extreme difference in price on some products

was also great to see 3 Wholesale Sports outlets in the Spokane/Coeur D'Alene area.  Apparently UFA bought the Pacific Northwest Sportsman Warehouse stores and have changed the name to Sportsman Warehouse.  They had a little more gear than the Alberta stores and the pricing was very similar.

Anyway, looking forward to the opening of the Cabelas store in Edmonton.

To be honest Weste, I'm not as excited as very many about Cabelas.  Really all it will do for you is hopefully have something in stock that you needed.  Prices will be good old Canadian pricing and it will not benefit you pocket wise.  I have bought a lot of stuff from Cabelas and most times I will order in from the U.S because it is cheaper than getting it from Winepeg!!
Internet shopping is the way of the future for saving money but if you need something in a hurry and you live in Edmonton then you should have a better chance of finding it at the Cabelase than the other big store in town.  My take on it

I absolutely agree.  I am very disappointed in the Canadian Store prices.  The Canadian Cabelas in winnipeg and the Bass Pro in Calgary are very dissapointing when comparing to there US counterparts.  I usually order goods to a friends house in Whitefish and have them bring up to save shipping and/or duty.  I save a lot of cash doing that.  Still looking forward to the opening...hopefully a few Grand Opening specials.

Basically spent a grand in post falls with the specials and bargain Cave prices though.  LOL  Oh well, it will get well used during hunting season.

Weste, I just got a P.O Box in Montana just across the line.  The whole family uses it and the inlaws live in Cardston.  It has been a great thing and it only costs $50 a year for the address.  If it is a big item they have a place to store it across the street from the p.o box.
