CFC Fiasco

So when my dad passed away I inherited 2 revolvers, his police service revolver and a .357 S&W. I am in the midst of moving, and sold my house, but our other house fell through due to inspection issues, so I need to move the revolvers somewhere safe, to my brother in laws place. He has an RPAL, I do not, I have a regular PAL, being executor I have the right to have the revolvers, I do not need an RPAL to have them, I submitted the proper paperwork to the CFC when my dad passed away.

OK so here it goes.

I go to the Red Deer RCMP and get a bureaucratic lady at the front desk. I told her I need to move the guns, she told me the RCMP doesn't deal with that, go to the CFC website, and she sent me away.

Call the CFC, get another lady, she tells me it's complicated and they can't deal with it short term, she tells me to call the RCMP. She tells me I can't transport the guns.

Call the RCMP, they let me talk to a member, pretty decent guy, he has an RPAL and some private handguns. He tells me I can't transport without an RPAL and the CFC needs to issues the paperwork, he tells me to call the CFC. He doesn't know the law though, even though he's a cop.

Call the CFC, get another lady, am told I can't transport the handguns, am told that I should have sorted this out already, as executor I have a "reasonable" amount of time, I ask what is reasonable, she says 1 year, I said where is that the law, she says it isn't it simply states a "reasonable" amount of time, I tell her I don't understand what is "reasonable" do they have a set amount of time, she says no but I have exceeded the "reasonable" amount of time. I say OK I will sort it out and hang up.

I call back, I get a different lady, she tells me as executor I am clear to move the firearms without authorization to transport, and she gives me a file number to transfer to my brother in law short term until I get my RPAL. So I throw the revolvers in my truck and head down the road.

FML the whole thing is clueless and convoluted. None of them know the law, they don't communicate, and why do I get nothing but women every time I call the CFC, don't they have any men working there? I have nothing against women, I am married to one, it just seems they only hire ladies.

Lol,, just typical of government agencies you know. No one really knows much about their job because in the end no one is accountable for anything that happens so there is no need for them to be informed. If a situation evolves they all just do the same thing, pass the buck around until it frustrates someone and they give up.

Bet you wish you wouldn't of even made the call and just moved them. They treat those things like nuclear devises lol,, what a joke.

Paul write or meet with your MP and relate the story.  Just one more example of why c-68 and c-17 need to be scrapped;  replaced with something that makes sense.

The crux of the issue is that thanks to c-68 it is Illegal to own firearms in Canada......except if you jump through excessive hoops And have the proper paperwork on your person;  all completely at the whim of whatever bureaucrat you happen to talk to.  Failing to have the proper paperwork can mean Mandatory 3 years in jail!

The above mentioned bills have nothing to do with public safety, they are designed solely to harass and disarm law abiding tax paying Canadians.

Right now there is a massive push happening and every CPC MP is aware of it.  Please contact your MP.  Change of some sort is supposed to be coming in June.  The more CPC supporters push the more chance of realistic change.
