COLD WEATHER
« on: February 03, 2018, 10:28:12 AM »
I don't know about you guys but I am getting tired of all this cold weather. Even the dogs feet are sore even though i put booties on him for walks.  One trick I have found is to wrap colored electrical tape around the velcro to keep the booties from falling off.  The colored tape makes it easier to peel off the tape from a black bootie. The electrical tape stops the velcro from coming undone.  I wax his feet lots but he still has sore feet from all this cold weather.  Does not help he is ten and is starting to slow down. I am not sure of his breed as I got him from a breeder who said he was a chocolate lab but lots of people have asked me how I like my chessie. The best thing I like about him is he likes to chase bears and lets me know if a grizzly is around.  You would not break into my house without me knowing.  When he goes I would like to get his clone. Anyone have any good hints for dogs with sore feet from the cold.

Gunner our half breed lab/shepherd has been having a tough time in the cold as well. He has been spending most of the days in the garage cause same here his feet can't take it. 15 -20 min at a time out side. Took him and I for a good work out today, did about 3 miles in the snow. He sure enjoyed it as did I felt good to get the lungs burning with some crisp fresh oxygen.
But I can't wait for it to break looks like this coming weekend it's going to break and be good for a while. One good thing is it's going to be good for the fish cause not a lot of people going out in this weather.

minus 20 today at my place  in Calgary. I am sure getting tired of the cold weather. Now I understand why my old dad used to complain about all the snow we used to get in the crowsnest pass.  I think the big difference this year is we have not got as many warm spells to melt back some of the snow Neighbor lady was stuck yesterday in the col de sac and good thing I had a pail of gravel to help get her out.
I will never trust the ground hog again.

The walleye in Chin Reservoir should usually be in full pre spawn right now.

Maybe not this year.
