communication
« on: October 06, 2016, 10:40:27 AM »
I think we had better communication when we had the phone nailed to the wall. Then you had to get up to answer it and it does not get lost. Had a buddy call me that his mom's funeral was at 3 oclock. I showed up and nobody there. When I called him he said didn't you get my email that we changed the time. well no. Was supposed to take my nieces father in law fishing today. He was from Ottawa so I checked about  getting a license and gave him all the details. I called them all day yesterday to set up a pick up time and the niece calls last night that he had gone back to Ottawa and she could not find her phone to call me. That might have turned out for the better as I could not make him understand that he needed a license and I was worried he would not get one but tell that he had. He wanted me to take him hunting  and thought we could just go but did get it when I explained about all the paperwork he needed first. When to the bank yesterday to deposit some money. Somehow I had doubled what I thought I was putting in. Had to go talk to a real person to straighten that out.  Yup for us old folks the old ways were better.

You want to get a hold of the boys in Calgary forget about phoning, you either text or email for fast response then if it's critical they will give you a call. Annoys the heck out of me.

Definately some conversations best left to a phone call or in person but got to admit I'm a huge fan of the text for a lot of stuff especially at work.  Can't have my phone on me in a lot of places so instead of wasting time trying to get a hold of someone who may or may not answer it's often much more efficient to send a text and check the phone when convenient.  Same with outside of work.  Phone calls annoy the snot out of me when I'm busy and often text is a good way to bypass the chit chat and get to the point.

It's true texting can be a handy tool, I do a lot of it as well. But it can also be annoying.
