Do you smoke?
« on: May 31, 2016, 11:52:57 PM »
If so then Fn quit now.. :(

I smoked for 30 years and shut it down back in 1999.

And now I have COPD which is better than a death sentence.

Is this something you were recently diagnosed with Sonny or has it been on going. I don't know how severe your condition is but they have made huge progress in the treatment and control of COPD over the last few years. Keep a positive attitude Sonny as I am sure you will and you can maintaine a good quality of life for yourself.

As far as smoking yes I did as well for 30 years and quit about 7 years ago. It may catch up with me as well one day.

My father passed away at 89 and a half as a result of COPD. He lived at home until  two weeks before his passing  He smoked only when he was a kid. What made him live so long was being active.  He was still skiing Marmot until 74.  Diet was also important.  L&W burgers only for special occasions.

You will do OK Sonny.  Just keep active.

I have never smoked cigarettes , only person in my  familly to not .
But in 2004 ,I was diagnosed with copd , my GP put me on Spireva
Got a little better but not really . Had a tougher time breathing
All the time . Finally in 2013 , I got my GP to send me to a
Pulmonologist, I had every test known to medical science.
Turns out not only was I allergic to the Spireva , I have Adult Asthma.
If I had kept taking the steroids maybe the big casino. You want more
Than one opinion for sure . Much better today ...I have to take one puffer
A day but most days feel great .

Yah I'm not sure about those electric things, if your going to quit, quit that's it. My brother has been sucking on one of those things for 2 years now, like what the difference, he's still hooked.

I don't smoke but chew.  I've cleaned up my diet and exercise regularly.  So I guess that's how I justify not quitting.  Haha

One thing about smoking sooner or later everyone has to quit. Yes some smoke until an old age but it's rare. Smoking kills and it's as simple as that, yes other things do as well but nothing as bad as smoking other than obese eating habits maybe that would be about it. It's a nasty habit, trust me after you quit you will see it for what it is,, it's a vile, disgusting thing.

Quit smoking when my kids were born back before I turned 30. Got into the dirty habit of chew for about 5 years in my 40's, and quit that too.  Been clean since then. That chew is more addictive.
