Does anyone remember this?
« on: March 04, 2013, 05:51:55 PM »
Several years ago (on another forum) there was a thread about a couple (or family) camping inK-country. They kept hearing loud sreams in the middle of the night. They said it sounded like a baby or woman sreaming and said how errie and frightening it was. I remember chiming in and thought it might be a cougar they were hearing. This was awhile ago so my memory is sketchy.....

Walleyes or Deerman you might remember the thread i'm speaking of?

I remember reading that thread.

The description reminded me of a time a couple of us were in tree stands with a draw in between us. Both of us had a deer feeding in front of us. When what we assumed was a cougar fired up, the deer almost turned themselves inside out running away. Made for a very nervous walk back to our vehicle.

I recall the post, however, I thought that it was Walleyes and his brothers beating on each other in the bush over who called moose the best, right Terry? ;)

Glad some of you guys remember it. Whoever posted it was asking members what they thought it was. I'm going to hang in a little longer before I let the cat out of the bag but I was watching a video tonite that made me think of that thread...... and I don't have any doubt this is what these people heard.

This clip sounds like a dying animal of some kind. I've heard rabbits make a very similar sound when wounded.

My bet is someone calling preadators with an electronic call. My Foxpro fury has some VERY similar sounds.

Doug, yes the sound of a wounded rabbit is a high pitch cry. In the video its a Fisher Cat but yes, somewhat similar.
