This winter reminded me of one we had in the early 80's; I hauled skydivers right into Jan. before it got, "cold". We then had drought conditions for about three years. Really, it's likely time in the cycle for some drought years (unfortunately), as we've had about 7 years of good conditions.
That being said, I read that sunspot activity has dropped significantly the last while which would mean a cooling trend and some cold dry winters. But, like the OP said, a slight wobble in the earth's axis will mean changes in the weather for awhile as well.
A lot of factors. Funny how the global warming zealots never acknowledge things that undeniably actually Do affect our weather? Guess you can't tax changes in the earths axis or use it to take away freedoms though. Instead the emperors new clothes seem to get the sheep to flock.
