First Impression
« on: May 09, 2011, 05:52:52 PM »
Well with this being a new site and all I thought id see what everyones first impression is.

Im pretty pleased so far, havent been to all corners of the site but what ive used and checked out seem to work well.

Takes a bit to get used to the layout but its not to bad of a transition.

Have to say I was one happy camper when I heard a few days ago that this site was coming. Anyways im sure the site designers would be open for any suggestions and or issues.

The site is nice and clean with LOADS of potential. As new as it is, it's great to see some "old" faces from the past... LOL!

Would any consideration be given to a "Buy and Sell" section? Regards, Mike

Any and all feedback is welcome.

Our goal here is simple. To create a community for Albertans and other sportsmen that is for the members. Without the members this place doesn't exist, and we understand that. With exception of people being extremely nasty or rude or spamming links, posts will never be censored or deleted and we will not be issuing warnings for ridiculous reasons.

This place is for "YOU", the people.

We won't say there will never be ads, but the ads and advertisers won't dictate content. We will give back as much as we can in the form or promotions and prizes. That being said the purpose of this board is not to make a bunch of money.

We appreciate any and all support and appreciate the members sharing this place with friends and helping build a great community.

We can do a buy and sell section.

It's good to start fresh even with some old faces.

Although it is in its infancy still, I must say i like what I read above from the admin. Hopefully this place will grow and gain a strong, healthy membership.

I for one certainly appreciate the effort put forth already.

I have a feeling that the success of this forum is highly likely - you don't have an agenda or any prized ponies to protect. I am pretty sure if the first faces here are any indication that we can look forward to a pretty good forum.

The one thing that the whole paid hunting fiasco showed me is how important a forum can be to share information. It will be nice to have an unbiased, non partisan platform to discuss these important issues to Alberta's hunting and fishing community.

Thanks!

so far so good.  as said, a buy and sell section would be good.  i think there maybe a couple too many headings, and you will find that some move very slowly.  at least thats what ive noticed on some other forums.  it just gets too scattered i guess.

I find it hard to find my way around this site a bit.  I admit I am not good at navigating with my computer skills or was just used to AO but I think I will get the hang of it.
To the Admin- what do you need to help you make this a grate place to be?  Do you need sponsor money to keep it running?  Are there upgrades to the site that we can do but don't because of money?  Let us know what we can do to help the Admin!

I think there is HUGE potential for a truly UNBIASED site that isn't run as a personal, for profit, business to become the REAL voice of Alberta's Sportsmen.  The ONLY voice being heard at AO is Rob Miskosky's, because anything that he or one of his puppets doesn't say or agree with is deleted almost instantaneously, and in most cases, so is anyone that dares to question him or his "voice".

It's up to all the members here to make this the best forum for hunting and fishing info in AB, and I'm sure hoping that happens.

I like it so far!! Takes a little getting use to as far as the layout is concerned. I'm not going to bash any "other" site of the same variety I just hope for a little more freedom such as for example: If I have a negative experience with an establishment that just happens to be a sponsor I'd like to be able to post it!! I know as a business owner any feedback positive or negative is what helps us improve our services to JOE public.

My first impression is:  I like it!  Looking forward to a little more freedom of speech and the fact that it is a members friendly site.
I think I see a rip in the social fabric, Brother can you spare some ammo?

Site looks good, I always enjoy a new place to go.  One suggestion maybe would be that when you scan over a thread with your mouse that it gives you a little blurb on what its about.  But i look forward to wasting more time here haha

Paul, I noticed that the Post time seems to be out by an hour.  Should be an easy fix.
