Fort Mac Fires
« on: May 03, 2016, 04:17:17 PM »
Sounds like things are taking a major turn for the worse.
Anyone here there right now?

I hope the r.c.m.p do not take advantage of the horrible situation and use it as a excuse to trample everyone's rights again but I am not holding my breath.

If you were a r.c.m.p member involved with high river you are a disgrace to the uniform and a traitor to the citizens of this country.

Talking to the guy next door and he says Confederation way heading to #63 is at a standstill.

They are talking about opening #63 southbound lanes to northbound just so people can get out of town.

It's bad up here guys but if I have to I'll float down river on a log.

Everyone will be OK.

If things are as bad as the news reports say, where in the heck is this rapid deployment military we have? Hello Shiny Pony where are you?

The folks in the Fort Mac area are pretty tough. No one is ever left behind. No one leaves without a meal.

Mister Sonny....please call home.

Boy she sure looked scarey on the news lastnight, hoping that all in the Fort made it out safe and sound.
Hoping the first responders get some support and relief .  16 hour shifts in full fire fighting gear, in that inferno would be tough to say the least.  I'm sure the adrenaline and the will to save the community from as much damage as possible would push guys on , but they will need some major help today.
Thoughts and Prayers to all those in the area or from the area .

Glad to hear you made it Sonny. Let's hope we have no serious injuries during this ordeal.

By the news this morning there are a couple neibourhoods lost to the fires. Prayers to those families as they will have to rebuild. Mother nature at her cruelest here.

Lets just hope they got a jump on it over night.

I keep on thinking about Fort Mac and all my friends who lost their homes.

Even a trip to the range today with a new to me jungle carbine couldn't get it out of my mind.

Right now I am very sad.  :'(

There is a tough row to hoe yet,  the weather has not helped and it sounds like the city and area is still in danger.  Thoughts and prayers to the first responders , stay safe and get this sucker under control.
For anyone interested texting redcross to 30333 will give a 5$ donation direct to the wildfire response team working with evacuees.

Good to hear you made it out Sonny and sounds like most did which is a blessing.  Looking at some of the video of the flames a stones throw away from peoples vehicles trying to get out it's a miracle there was not more fatalities.  People may have lost their homes which is horrible but all things considered it could have been much worse.

I really hope the province takes a good look at how they evaluate evacuation situations.  A friend of mines parents were living in Slave Lake when that fire happened.  Story I was told was one second they were out doing yardwork - went in to start supper - firefighters were running down the street screaming for people to get out.  Had enough time to grab the wallet off the counter and that was it.  Through the rear view mirror they could see the fire jumping houses as they left.  Sorry but that's to close and same with Fort Mcmurray.

         Praying for you guys.
