It is a mess...My relative is working with er comm to help restore cell service. There was 7 towers burned and lots of them had no power. The repeaters ran for a while until the generators ran out of gasoline. The techs could not get to the cell tower locations due to fire and closed roads. They have moved the comm centre twice due to fire on the move..
They already dealing with minor looting as well. Hope they catch the sob's.
I returned this afternoon after dropping off more electronics in conklin.

Walleyes:
Looting always happens in disasters.
My Questions are:
Are the RCMP going to enter into homes and confiscate firearms as in previous Alberta Disasters?
Are Alberta Citizens going to have to pay the current transfer payments to eastern Canada? All the while the "social media" in the east says "Burn Alberta Burn".
A lady from the Wildrose Party phoned me the other night for a donation. After discussion, she seemed more concerned about her brother in Ontario. Great job Brian!!! NO DONATION.

I think your right on this one Sonny. I like Brian I think deep down he's a decent fellow just not sure he's the leader we need though. But that's for the other thread I guess.

I hope that term
"eco-crazies"
(0:16 in the video) really takes off. It is very fitting on them. Much more fitting than calling them environmentalists.
You know, the likes of Elizabeth May, David Suzuki, Leonardo DiCaprio, Al Gore, Justin Trudeau.

Who knows what their thinking is on the fire that is now burning out to the east of Fort Mac now. I am just speculating that now it is out in the boonies somewhere out in the Gypsy Lake Wildland, they are just letting it go with the resources they have on hand already and are hoping for rain. La Loche is the only town out east of there in Saskabush and Lac La Loche guards it somewhat. The winds are forecast from the north and the west. I hope that is not the wrong decision, but most of all I hope the decisions of the fire experts are being respected over the politicians.

Copied post from one Angry Albertan.
"Showing up while firefighters are battling wildfires would not be a useful thing."
"Dear PM Trudeau,
Since the election of your government and Alberta's government, I've admitted defeat and stayed out of the politics and sat on the sides waiting for "change." However, after viewing a recent news clip, I now have a serious problem.
When the refugees landed, you were there to greet them with clothing and a warm embrace. When you decided to invest our money and support behind the First Nations, you were there to take pictures in a head dress and once again, offer a warm embrace.
Yet when the city that contributed an astronomical amount of money to this province and country is burning to the ground, it's not convenient for you? Where is their warm embrace? How about roll up your sleeves and go to the emergency centre's and hand out water, talk to the people so you can understand this tragedy, offer a damn hug.
You care about everyone else but not anyone from this province. You are treating Alberta like the sh*t stain on your high priced underwear. I'm completely disgusted in our government, federally and provincially. Oh, I forgot..."the government will match our individual donations." Seriously?! I know people (ourselves included) that are either without jobs or have taken significant cuts and we still have found ways to contribute to building Fort Mac back up. We are all doing our part.
You know what's not convenient? Having your damn house burn to the ground and only having the clothes on your back. Trying to comfort your starving, cold infant. Crying because you know your house is gone and you had a beloved pet trapped inside. Starting your kids in a new school in a new town because theirs is gone. Having to put your pride aside and wear someone else's clothing and sleep in someone else's home because you literally have no choice and no where to go.
I hope when you lay down on your nicely brushed, clean (ash-free) hair at night, you get the most amazing sleep. I hope your conscience is clear.
Don't worry, Alberta (and numerous other provinces) are taking care of our own. Please, don't break a sweat or roll up your sleeves and help, we wouldn't want to inconvenience you. 🖕🏻🖕🏻
Sincerely,
One disgusted Albertan"

I am very proud to see how most of Alberta has stepped up to help out our friends in Fort Mac. I hope that most had insurance to help them rebuild it will be a long road but we will come out stronger in the end.

As hard as it is sometimes I always try and find some good in things. In this case it is tough and I feel deeply for so many people but there is some good in this.
There is a shortage of work in the province this summer this situation will create employment in many sectors. There may be some that were in Ft Mac just hanging on the fence wether to move on or hang around this may help them make a decision. It may be time for some to move on to other lines of work.
