My hometown is near Barkerville, we go every year for billy barker days. Spend a few days hiking, panning, fishing.

Worked in and around a lot of the towns listed under the Alberta listing over the years.

Alot of those towns listed as ghost towns are far from ghost towns.  :P

Coolest true ghost town I ever seen was Pacific, BC. It was eerie. Can't get there by road no more.

It ain't even on the list.

Walleyes, do you remember the old coot that lived in the old clapboard shack along the CN tracks just north of the Margie siding?  My son & I met him up there one time.  What an experiment!!!  I don't think there is anybody left in Philomena either, just old railway bunkhouses and Quintal's shack along the Piche River.

Unclebuck, I met that old guy up there once.  That was many years ago and when I met him he was building a sleigh.  He was old then.  That would have been about 1990 or so.  I think he said his name was Anderson. We were heading into Wiau the back way before anyone ever heard of it other than a few of us.
I think I see a rip in the social fabric, Brother can you spare some ammo?

How about  Bedson, or KD, There both within 30 miles of your home Sonny. I have been told there are still buildings at Bedson, As there was at her sister mine in the 70's.There still may be some sign of the sister town also but I have not been there since the 70,s and have been told parks ripped it up. KD is long gone, but I was there in the late 70's and there where still buildings. Did you get to see the old building in behind Carldale, 8 or 10 buildings plus a station. There was a town south of Obed Lake with a post office on the Foley Trail. There was a small town northeast of Obed Lake maybe on the Med Lodge Trail?

Is Bedson the old coal mine in Jasper by Pocahontas?

If so then yes there were a few buildings there in the early 80's but they have since been torn down.

As for Obed lake I do remember a few buildings in the area back when highway 16 was still a two laner, one was a Diner I believe. They have also been torn down due to the highway being twinned in the early 80's but I have no info on the other places you mentioned.
I only moved here in 1980..

Bedson was across the river, some of the building where still there in the mid 2000,s and may still be there, hard to get to. There was still some sign of building behind Carldale  in the mid 2000,s also. I can not find the footings to the town north of Obed any more, may have been ripped up also. I was told this one was a Gold Mine????
