Gold Rush.
« on: January 17, 2012, 08:07:06 PM »
Not sure if many follow Gold Rush on Discovery but I noticed something odd on tonights episode.. The one group of guys is up in the Yukon Territories and at the end of the show they bring out the U.S. flag and put it up on their wash plant. Now don't get me wrong I have nothing againts the mercins but hey,, you better be running the proper flag in the right country boy.. Just tipycal of some of them,, they think the whole place is merican soil. I would like to know what would happen if we were to fly a Canadian flag in a U.S. state ?? bloody murder thats what.

I got a good notion to write the Discover channel and let them know..

I fly both at my property in BC.  My parents fly a Canadian flag all winter in Arozonia and the polar bear of the north.  Good way to meet people but.... That particular group of guys rub me the wrong way with all the USA talk

All 3 groups are up in Alaska.

Quarts creek mine Porcipine creek and the other one. Lots of "drama"  Did anyone notice at start of season they were sayn fuel costs were 1000 bucks a day. In last show they were talk about needn 1 ounce a day to make or turn profit that would pay back everone and feed them til next year...math does not add up

Yeah it annoys the hell outta me every second sentance from the narrator "if they don't find gold soon they will be broke" An ounce a day? really the one crew has like 10 guys on it. @ 1500 an once roughly. Plus operating costs? Don'tknow about you guys but as a family man/homeowner now a days I'm thinking anything less than say $200 a day fro me would probably put me out on the street. A little too much bullshit and drama, the show has peaked as far as I'm concerned.

Actually nicholal the Hoffman crew left Alaska and are in the Yukon. They were booted out of Porcupine creek.

Season 2

For season 2, Todd missed a lease payment, and "Dakota" Fred Hurt buys the claim out from owner Earl Foster, not needing to break the lease due to the missed payment.[6] The season will explore the Hoffman crew's new mine at Quartz Creek, in the Klondike region of the Yukon Territory Canada as well as "Dakota" Fred's operation at the site of the original Hoffman mine, the Jim Nail Placer Mine, and Parker Schnabel's attempts to mine his grandfather's property at Big Nugget Mine.

I've come to the conclusion all of these, "reality shows" are either partially scripted, or just plain hogwash.
Goldrush is a good example.  If the hoffman crew risked everything last year and came up empty handed, how exactly did they come up with I'm guessing at least 50-100 thou. this spring, and more throughout the summer?

And the biggest reason?  You telling me you'd put a crew together to run heavy equpment in the bush and make it up of a bunch of guys who can't weld, or even wrench?  Some minor problem and the entire crew disappears.........fishing?

Sorry, I call BS.  In the real world that operation wouldn't have lasted this long.

I figure these reality shows are the soap opera's of the decade.

Speaking of shows, when's the new Topshot start?  Ya, I know, haha.
The one hosted by, "reality show star" what's his name who was on survivor.   :)

I really like this show actually. I do think it's kinda funny that the Hoffman's are living the "American Dream" in Canada though.

Also, I noticed that the Canadian flag is being flown now.

I'm not sure I could handle working on that crew, but it's a pretty interesting show.

That was my impression as well.  It seems all these new reality shows have the TV producer drama spin on them now.  There have even been comments from the miners that are kind of tongue in cheek taking shots at the TV production crew.
I think I see a rip in the social fabric, Brother can you spare some ammo?

Those guys on the show are idiots.  When they are finally getting dirt into the hopper, they are losing a lot of gold off the end.  Also, when the machinery is broken down, where are the pans, shovels and grizzleys?  No one should be sitting on their ass doing nothing!  If we had the funds to go up north and work a claim for gold, I can guarantee we would be getting something every day, maybe not much, but something.

My hubby likes to watch the show and then complain to me about what they should be doing, I can[t stand watching because they are such screwups.

Thanks for letting me vent - it's been bugging for a while.
Just get out there!
