Golden trout
« on: February 06, 2016, 10:42:56 AM »
I want to catch a golden trout. Can someone tell me which of our few lakes with them would give a guy the best chance of doing this? Also when is the best time of the years for this?

Looking to have a good feed?

I haven't a clue but I was told once 742 south west from Canmore some of the small puddle lakes have them.
Really research that tip before you burn the gas.

Barnaby Ridge or Rainy Ridge. Rainy is a hard hike bush whacking and ya have to be half billy goat.

I would pack heat or bear spray for either. Its prime grizz country.

A big goldie out of these lakes is 12 inches. They fight good though.

I still might have the co-ords for Rainy in my GPS.

These fish are so rare that I will be C&R only. Anyone know if you can get a chopper to take you in for a weekend? Rainy & Barnaby Ridges Are the only places I've found yet. I carry spray with me out west all the time & south west has even more grizz so I hear.

You can get a fly in to Michelle and Coral Lakes out of Nordegg. I hope no one offers flights into the 4 lakes down south as they do not need more pressure. Access is easy as is.
