Odd the members here who were banned bad mouth the other site but can't stop talking about them or trying to mess with them and sign up under fake names.

How many of you are in a business where you would like to have someone mining your client base. If there is a need/want for this site then fly the damn thing on it's own merits. Keep this crap up and you'll have the same thing that the other board has. You guys sound like a bunch of whiney school girls.

Trust me when I say no one is reading your private messages, because no one cares. With a board that size they have no time to play schoolyard games. Why spend any time babysitting. That's not why these boards are set up.

To be honest, I have no skin in the game, it's just the internet, but the other board is one of, if not the most tolerant outdoors board I've seen. Lots of guys suspended or banned have been allowed back in.
Follow the rules and use some common sense and you are welcome on these internet forums. Someone has made the effort to make these forums available to all of us to meet and discuss our passion. It's counter productive and plain stupid to go to all the trouble and put up with all the whining just to ban people. Pretty soon you'd have no board.
Follow the rules or if you don't like the rules, ask for a refund and move on.

And what kind of salesman doesn't make an effort to say "sorry it's full, but do you want your name in for the next round or do you want to sign up for the fishing regs?". Just "sorry we're full"? That prick would be fired if he worked for me, that's not a salesman, that's a body at a desk.

IMHO the SRD has bigger problems right now than to worry about someone complaining about their contracts. If guy's don't run their business professionally that's on them, not on the SRD.

I think you will find your observations on the other forum are wrong if you talk with a few guys.  I was not banned for anything I said on the open forum myself.  It was a few words I had in a Private PM with the owner and he was too small of a man to talk and rather just figered he would bann me instead of ignoring me or discussing things.  It happened to a few others here as well.  You might not like the opinions some people have in this life but a better man will ignore you and move on if you do not aggree. 

As for hiding who you are when you log on again , you have to or you will be tossed again. 
I contibuted a lot to that forum and including financially as well and I don't think it was fair to be treated the way I was and not given a chance.  You might think I am a whinny coward but at least I don't take it from behind like a lot of the followers there do when there is an opinion to be spat out that might ruffle some feathers.   As you can see as well there are many stories about it from upstanding guys on that forum who are not banned and they are sick of it as well.  It isn't just a few guys who are pissed because they got banned

Well Tuc no one can really say who Obi Wan is except Obi Wan. As far as making a stink over the ad thing I hardly think it's worth it, there are other means to get the word out.

I won't lock this thread because I am so not about locking things. If someone has something meaningful to contribute further here by all means go ahead, but I will say this.

I really prefer that the "other board" and "other people running those boards" be left out of this place. We have to make our own way guys, and complaining about policies at other places sort of defeats the purpose. I started this to give people an option. We have the seed here for a great community.

Guys you have to move on and get over the fixation on AO. If anyone were to find this board first their next stop would be AO. There are so many posts about Rob and AO it is an ongoing ad for them.
As far as the ad goes we all have jobs and our companies can decide who they work for. Not many would advertise their competition in the foyer of the company office. Mine sure as hell wouldn't. This is no different. Say all you want that As isn't competition for AO, it is. It is clear in everyone's mind as well by the very posts here where people are trying to lure people over from AO to the "darkside", blah blah blah.
This place will have to stand on its own, it isn't going to survive by whining incessantly about Rob and AO. If Rob controls one piece of the media find another to spend your money with.
Fellas I hope I haven't hurt any feelings but I'm just calling it the way I see it.

There was a time that the Government printed our regs with no advertising. The move to a printed format full of ads and have a few hacks write crappy articles attached is likely largely offset by the very ads that are sold within the regs.

I don't think the winning bidder of a contract should dictate contact, and if it means adding a page and offsetting the cost that much more it is a no brainer.

If you wish to write the minister, feel free and don't let some crying critics stop you. You have as much right as the next guy.

I agree that the "expert - how to" articles written by the same rat pack of so called experts is really getting old in our provincial hunting and fishing regs.  If I wanted that stuff I could buy a certain magazine.  Okay, I can put up with some advertizing because it helps pay the printing costs.  I can do without the "pro staff" stories, all I want is the regulations.  I may write to the minister.  I would like a more concise summary of our regulations without the useless filler.  Our old regs were great compared to the rag we get today.  Just my opinion but I would bet I am in the minority with it.  A smaller format would fit into my backpack better...

That would be awesome if they could make a smaller version of the regulations even . Im sure it would save everyone a dime and make it more acessable then a magizine sized book . Filled with plenty of useful information  . Im not even sure in say 5 years they will make a paper copy it will all be online . Sure there are some folks without the internet . But seems everything is going to a paperless system .

We have started a great new forum/site that will become successful on its own merit and we will put enough advertising behind this site that it will continue to grow and become a place where sportsman from all over Canada can come exchange stories, connect with fellow outdoorsmen/women, and meet new friends. We have a great thing going here and I do understand that people are upset but, we have wasted enough time talking about them on this site. I am really excited to be here and to share my TV Shows adventures and photos with those that are interested and hopefully learn from some of you great outdoorsmen at the same time.  Canada is a magnificent place and I am sure we can exchange some stories on our exploits so far this spring or last fall instead.

THC, thanx for keeping the boys in line including me. Positive thinking and a passion for what we love doing will make this forum a success!
BTW, I remember when the regs were a small pamplet about 4x6, not here in Alberta but back in Nova Scotia. I do like all the advertising though, I find it spices things up a little......
