I was just looking at the regulations "magazine". It seems that ALL the pertinent info could be put on a large pc of paper, similar to the size of a road map. The WMU map could be printed on the backside. Maybe that's what could be done. It would be much handier.   Oh wait, that's what it used to be like. There is enough advertizing in all the outdoor mags we read, no need for ads with the regs. Where does all that ad money go to anyways????
This is not a poke at anyone, just an observance.

I'm sure some of it helps to pay for the free regs we all get. Stop and think of all the hunting and fishing regs that are printed each and every year - that is a pile of expense that someone has to pay for. As for the advertisers I would think it is a good bang for the buck if you are a butcher, outdoors store etc etc etc

Do our licence and tag fees not pay for the regs?

I have no idea. I suspect that money heads back into SRD and some of their programs and operational costs would be my guess.

Obviously, they used to in the olden days.  Too many fingers in the pot now methinks.  Private editor and printer, the ACA, IBM, etc.
I think I see a rip in the social fabric, Brother can you spare some ammo?

I simply made a guess as to what contributed to the free regs. Perhaps asking SRD how the regs are funded would find the actual answer. At the end of the day the ads serve a promotional purpose for those that advertise (I know I reference the ads), and the sale of the ads obviously raises money - whether that pays for the regs, makes a a profit for the publisher or a combination of the two who knows.

Sorry, i thought it was more then a guess. The expense would be a lot less if the regs were a one pager, instead of a magazine. A lot easier to read and understand. Like i said earlier, there is enough adverts in the various mags. I really, really doubt that if someone is looking for a butcher, they pick up the regs before the phonebook.

Back when the regs were just regs, and not a magazine, they were paid for from sales of licences, tags, ect....., and I am assuming the same would hold true now. Wonder where the advertisement dollars go now................
