Hearing Aids?
« on: March 11, 2013, 09:17:24 AM »

Well with all the shooting I have lost one ear pretty much not totally but the decibel level that people speak at any way.  This is bothering my family and I am missing what my kids are trying to say lots.  I do ok if I can see people’s faces or if there is not too much back ground noise.

This hearing loss is on me seams as though the place I went to was more concerned if it was a WCB claim.  I have family insurance that would fully cover hearing aids but never told the hearing center that.  Basically what I got out of them was that my good ear would just compensate for my bad one that seems like BS to me as its bad enough that they told me if it happens to the other ear I am in a real pickle and to just be careful, and that there was not much they could do at this time.

Any old duffers out there that have an aid in just one ear ?

I am with you Jimmy, I am extremely frustrated because I have a hard time hearing what my kids tell me these days.  When I get a hearing test, inevitably, the tester will always ask me if I shoot guns.  LOL  The most common question I ask my kids is "Can you speak up".  Its very frustrating for all of us.

My left ear is just about done as well. I've worked in a sawmill for 25 years so when i do decide to get hearing aids it should be a simple wcb claim. I just hope when I do decide to get them it can tune out the tinitus.

I have hearing aids in both ears which I got 5 years ago...I always wore hearing protection but after 20 plus years working in plants (gas, fertilizer, chemical) with electric motors up to 200 hp, process noise, had its effect...I should have gotten them 5 years earlier, because it was amazing how much sound I was missing...
Treat each day as your last; one day you will be right.
