How was your Long Weekend?
« on: May 21, 2013, 02:15:03 AM »
I worked Friday and Saturday , weather is holding out and the crops going  in  good here. Had a few calls though just enough you could not plan anything. Sunday we ran up to a buddy's place at the lake had a great pancake breakky , and let the kids play down on the beach. Was a good get away and relax day. Today got the garden roto tilled , got called out to fix a tractor .  When I got back. My niece and her boyfriend and my 2 nephews had come out to visit , I putt'em to work and we got the garden planted. Radish, lettuece , peas , corn , beans , onion , carrots, dill, cucumbers, and the family staples potatoes.  And sunflowers and pumpkins for the kids to look after. Back to the grind tomarrow !!!  Forgot to add we shot a round of trap after a moose roast supper,   The ol boy( me ) was getting cocky after going 15 for 15 then blowing it lol. Still managed 21 on the first round not to shabby for first round this year... I shoulda kept my mouth shut and just broke clays but I had to rub it in a bit on my nephew.  Good week- end here anyways.

Work, work, work.... productive weekend though. Pounded in 40 fence posts for around garden and chicken coop. Put up the fencing and wire. Tilled and planted vegetable garden. Flower garden in. Built my wife a raised strawberry patch alongside her old one. Cleaned out the chicken house. To top it all off, got myself a dandy sunburn.

Sounds like most of us are in the same boat.. Finished landscaping my ditches, started the covered deck, 42' x 8'  all treated lumber frame work with cedar decking. Did a quick job on the lawn just to get it started,, but man we need rain. In between that we did manage one morning out on the lake,, pretty cold yet and Sunday afternoon in the bear stand, nothing came out, maybe this weekend.

well was great, went and camped at my old sheep haunts, little rain, little sun, some family members, no work that couldn't be put off, was very relaxing! ;D Also saw the biggest grizz tracks I've ever seen, pretty neat!

I worked. However, I did fire up the archery range in camp. Flung a pile of arrows down range last night. It felt good to get shooting again!!

I sat in a treestand waiting for a big bear to walk by.  He never did.  LOL  I did help a buddy get one with his rifle off of a pipeline north of Peace River though.  This weekend is going to be the fun one for me, taking my 12 year daughter on her first hunt for bears.  Should be a blast.

Here is Brian's bear from the weekend.  Great first bear!!  I wish my daughter could have came last week as I did have some great bears come in that she would have been able to get a shot at.  The cinnamon bear would have been a great trophy.
