I love my job..
« on: August 29, 2012, 10:24:55 AM »
Well maybe not the job but I love the hours of work.

3 days then 3 nights followed by 6 days off..rinse and repeat..lol.. ;D

Gives me lots of time to fish and hunt.. ;)

So what hours do you work and are you happy with it?

Sonny, retired now, before retirement I was doing 3- 12hr. shifts then 4 off. Not bad, had lots of time to do my own thing. Winter hours were a little different doing 4- 9.5 hr. shifts giving me Fri, Sat, and Sunday off. Your gig sounds like a good deal, was the nights graveyard shifts?

Well mine is ok.  Shift is mon-fri I work 7:30 - 3:15 pm not to bad.  Can't think of anything else I could be doing and get paid as well for.  I have to blame an old hunting partner for getting drunk and offering me a job in this industry 14 years ago.  Now with this 3:15 quiting time I just need to find some land closer to hunt so i can get some evening time in.

My schedual basically runs 2 weeks on 1 week off. In the late spring and summer we do alot of 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off. Im on site at the rig 24hrs a day, but my work day consists of 3 - 4 drilling fluid chemical tests which are roughly 1 hr each. When things go south there can be long days and more checks but ive had very few of those in the last year at this new job. I personally love my job and the schedual that goes along with it. Lots of chances to take extra time off to hunt and holiday and with a good portion of my pay being Salary it doesnt dent the pocket book to bad in doing so.
I hunt sheep to see over the next mountain not to measure the next trophy!

2 weeks on 2 weeks off since this spring should last until beginning of Dec sometime then we will be 3 weeks on 1 week off for the winter. When I am at work I do a 12 Hr shift that I am in the command center then I have a night guy that keeps an eye on things during the night. I do have to get up for critical jobs or any problems. But I love the new schedule it gives me an unbelievable amount of time at home. For an old rig hand that is used to being gone from home for sometimes 2 or 3 months at a time this is just a dream job. And its year round rain or shine.

The 2X2 is pretty sweet, eh walleyes?  I work 14 days(12 hrs per), 14 off, 14 nights(12's again), 14 off, 14 days......ect.  Been doing it so long I don't know how I'd ever go back to a "regular" shift.

I kinda/sorta have 8 months off after working[if you can call it that] for 4 months.  During the 4 months I get all the nasty days off and 50% of July and August.
