I totally disagree.  I think anyone should be able to go for any civil job.

What do you disagree with ?   Just saying someone representing "our" best interests might want to have a back ground or experience in the political arena..

What I get from your response is you would much rather someone or anyone with no experience deciding the fate of our wildlife resource ?   Or would you perfer someone with real world experience steering our heritage for the future generations in Alberta ?

Thanks !

It would seem the majority of Albertans voted for PC candidates.  I would not call them "idiots".  As a matter of fact it is pretty arrogant to do so.

The WP made gains as did the ND.

Life goes on.

The majority is not Albertans.  Most true Albertans got sick of the crap and moved out of here.  As people from all over the world that moved here did the voting for pc.

Justin, you crack me up dude, your previous statement to this one was priceless !

So where did all the native Albertan's go ?    What makes a true Albertan in your eyes, is there a time line I need to look up in order to qualify for the status of "true Albertan", or just voting Wild Rose gets your membership card !  LOL

Going to enjoy this site :)

I wonder how many pc voters know what bills C-19, 24, 36 and 50 are going to mean to Albertans.  Or, what the sweeping search and seizure powers associated with that .05 thing are going to mean, Or, what it is going to be illegal to teach or not teach your OWN children?

I'm betting the vast majority of those who voted pc did no research on any of the above, instead believing without question whatever the media shovelled them.

If that's the case, then the adjective, "idiot" is being kind.

Pretty disappointed in my fellow Albertans. Actually I'm embarrassed for them.

x2

I never thought I'd see the day when liberal fear-mongering would work in Alberta.  Never thought I'd see the day when petulant voters, some of whom lurk around here, would put political correctness ahead of everything else.

It's a darn shame.

I'm not going to give REDford my hats and tall boots, though.  Not ever.  She can k.............ss.

It doesn't seem that way.  There is every reason to believe the vote was driven by fear.....whipped up by some bible quotation a pastor blogged a year ago.  And one foot-in-mouth newbie politician.  Gimme a break!

Yup....."Idiots" works just fine.  The lefty koolaid drinkers can perhaps be forgiven, they don't know any better.  We've always had 25-35% of that sort. That's not what tipped the vote last night, though, is it?

Call me arrogant then.
I could have called them way worse. I thought I was being kind.

It is a small victory in gaining 17 seats, which is unheard of. But, I'm sure the majority of the province was expecting more and voted out of fear of the unknown. Too bad.

:) I am reminded of the old expression "with friends like these, who needs enemies".

I reckon there are some reasonable people who are WR supporters.  But the ones on here are not likely to drum up support with "hate posts".

or better the devil you know then the devil you don't.

Fear? Maybe ..... could be many voters thought D.S. was too inexperienced. I think too many Albertans still have that old mentality of placing their vote where there father and grandfather before them did. Brainwashed if you want to call it that.

I was hoping the younger generation with no roots to Alberta would've changed that.

I would not call the 44% of the voting public who chose PC idiots.

An idiot doesn't likely have the capacity to know better. Some are likely idiots, some are mis-informed and some are simply protecting their self interest (read the Provincial employees that bolstered her leadership bid and then lined up for the spending spree).

If you are a landowner - get ready for new uncharted territory with Morton's (nice to see him go) land bills.

If you are a taxpayer - brace yourself, cause the 3.5 Billion dollar spending spree will have to come from some where.

If you are a Quebecer - no change - in fact get ready for cordial support with those transfer payments - we need to keep you programs (daycare, tuition etc) cheaper than ours so that you don't have any more of those riots...

If you are a bar owner - expect a drop in business, brought to you by a interest group on behalf of all Albertans (good thing we dodged the free vote debacle being considered by WRA - as it would be susceptible to interest groups)

If you are a good old boy - don't worry, Allison will make sure her hand in education will ensure your kids turn out better.

And all of this with the same tired, corrupt band of bullies that brought you the last 41 years.

Who needs to worry about looking bad with a leader who denies climate change and a couple of "idiot" candidates. We dodged that bullet. I am so glad - now we can officially be known as the Province that is working on it's third generation of Pavlovian PC voters. I think we should all have to wear signs that say "have another turn at my arse, and don't worry about the lube"

Oh wait a minute everyone knows....

I partly blame the 46% of the population that wasn't born here but for the most part it was the older folks. They vote in the greatest numbers, they got spooked with the health care issue and it's hard to switch parties when you have been voting for them for 41 years, plus they are more prone to get there news from the main stream media. It took me a while to come along to. I voted PC in the last election when Stelmach was the leader even though the WR was around then at that time. I was worried the liberals or NDP would do well , it takes time hopefully get them next time only need to swing another 10% of the population. For once I would like an election based on more than just Education and Health Care, us guys in the middle that pay all the taxes continued to get screwed.

actually i know less about the wildrose candidate i helped vote in than i do about the pc candidate.  the pc guy is a very good feller, and a friend.  we have played hockey together, and he has sat at my kitchen table and BSed over beers.  i really really wish he was affiliated with the party i supported rather than the one i used to.

Our new premier gave a short speech yesterday, in french.  Spoke of a national program for the oilsands.  I understand she's looking forward to the UN conference in June.
Alberta will in 4 years not look anything like it did 2 days ago.

You people that voted pc, you remember this.  What is about to be wreaked upon Alberta is YOUR doing.  No one elses.

I think I owe you a WOW from a previous response of yours...    WOW !

Obviously your a die hard WR supporter, nothing wrong with that..   But your speculation as to the future of this province is only that..

Now that Dannie has flip flopped, two days after the election, you really feel the WR party was a solid choice ?

I heard it on 770 about 10AM on the 24th, if that helps.  It was just a brief one.  She said she'd hold a session (sitting?) soon where she'd tell us what she's going to do.

Leafy, Bills C-19, 24, 36 and 50.  That's why I'm a Wildrose supporter.  I cherish the ability to own land and freedom.  Those bills will show you what's in Alberta's future, for starters.

You bet!
Danielle will change her policies to please the people of Alberta, that makes sense to me. Isn't that what a leader is suppose to do, listen to the people?
