It's That Time Of Year Again.

Yup it's that time of year,, everybody is getting the itch.. Geese are starting to flock and fly around here, got the trail cams up a couple days ago. Starting to shoot the bow more regularly, starting the fall canning and preserving. Radio is calling for frost any night now, wind has that chill in it, leaves are just starting to get that dry look.

Ahhh finally it's here again boys and girls.

Let's get it on..

Bring it on.
I will be doing a lot of early grouse hunting and scouting as usual.
This will be the first fall in years that I will not be moose hunting as we do not have any moose draws in our group.  That hurts me more than I can say.
I have an elk to get in November and will put in a solid effort for a good whitetail buck.  Have to keep up the decades long streak for wt bucks.....lol.
Yes, the cool mornings are the start of the fall itch for sure.
I think I see a rip in the social fabric, Brother can you spare some ammo?

Junior has a bull moose draw in wmu 353 so that will be on the top of our list.

I have a cow elk draw in wmu 438 which will be second on the list. :D

Might get supplementary doe tags just for sausage and pepperoni... ;)

Anyway I'm looking forward to getting out even to get a few chickens or a bunny or two. :D

Judging by TWELVE trucks worth of hunters all converging on a basin which held a single legal ram this morning, yup, it's that time of year. Good luck everyone. I did hear elk bugling Saturday, it has begun.

Booked an extra day off on the long weekend to get two days in looking for an elk with the sharp stick.  Went for a drive the other night and saw quite a few in a couple different spots so pretty excited.  Just need to get a few more practice sessions with the bow this week and it's time to get out there.

Sheesh 12 trucks lol.. The main reason I only hunted the mountains for 3 years,, couldn't stand the crowds..

At this point I find myself cheering for the ram !!

Starting to see more slings on guns at the range that’s a sure sign for me.

He didn't make it. At least it sounds like no short ones dropped yet, out of that valley....

Yup, a couple hrs ago it dawned on me that I'm simply, Darned excited!  Tomorrow we head out for some last minute spotting and if the forecast rain holds off somewhat Wed. we're on my wife's elk hunt.  Now, I'm basically the glorified pack mule on this hunt and we're working it around her work sched so it's a day here and there but I'm excited nonetheless.  (although I told her the further we are from the truck and the steeper the coulee we have to climb to get to it the smaller the cow she should shoot, (assuming she get's the opportunity) )

I'm simply excited as it's now hunting season!

So I wish you all obstacles you will overcome so you have stories to tell, time spent with family in the best place in the world to live, time around the campfire with both longtime and new friends, nothing but the best of success, and a full freezer come hard winter.

All the planning, preparation and practice are about to shine.  Enjoy this time, damn straight I will, every single second of it!
