The Karma is for if you really like or really dislike someone's post. If you like the post look near their username and you will see an "applaud" and a "smite". If you applaud they get +1 karma, if you smite they get a -1 karma. It's a great tool to see how much of a dick someone is, one guy here managed a -22 karma in the first 2 days.

Kinda like a +/- in hockey.  As long as I'm not playing for the Oilers I should be alright.   :)
