Title: Latest Project, Playing With Some Antlers.
Post by: walleyes on May 11, 2011, 12:23:54 PM: Here is the latest project,, what do you guys think ?? I originally intended it to have a glass top but the antlers were a little small to balance glass safely. So I went with a solid Pine top and attached them securely. Just intended for an end table or something lite.

I sort of thought the same thing when I was done. Its funny I went to Totem twice for different stain and bought it and when I got home and tried it on a piece of wood I didn't like so I went with a clear diamond finish. But like you say when I brought it in the house and set it down I felt the same as you,, a little darker may of been better.

The wife feels its cause the floor is darker,, on a lighter floor she feels it may look better. I actually made them for my oldest son,, its the moose we shot together last fall. His house has a lighter hard wood on the floor so we will see it may look better there.

I feel the darker stain may of matched up with the antlers better..
