Legal question???
« on: May 06, 2017, 10:11:59 PM »
Is it legal to shoot a gun after dark?

Ok we all know that you can not hunt between 1/2 hour before sunrise and a 1/2 hour after sunset.

But what about when there is no open season for anything?

So now you're asking why do you want to shoot a gun after dark right?

Well suppose I want to capture a fireball from a carbine in the dark either at the gun range or in an old gravel pit.

Thoughts?

I guess it depends who sees and hears it lol. If no one does,, is it illegal ??

Hmmmmm .... that's a very interesting question . We use to goose hunt
Very close to a reserve , sometimes when we were waiting for legal
time , quite a bit of gunfire in the dark coming from the reserve   .
Didn't seem to bother anyone ....so my suggestion obviously , do it
near a reserve . This happened more than once usually Saturday
morning . Keep us informed .

Take some fireworks with you. Some of them might sound louder than others. ;)

Not sure about that one at all. Interesting question though.  Imho unless you are doing it right on the outskirts of a town I'd say go for it and don't get caught but really it's probably best to throw a call into RCMP or FW and see what they say.
Funny W101 mentioned hunting by a reserve.  Some many years ago I was camped down on the Nordegg river up the Sunchild and got woke up at 1:00 in the morning by a crapload of gunfire.  I thought I had slept in until I looked at my watch.  It was close enough it woke me up but far enough away I didn't think much of it.  In those days I didn't worry about much full of piss and vinegar and all lol.
Did make me wonder about how the "rules" work though.
Not trying to derail just blabberin :).
