Cut away, to hell with them. If by chance they come by and make you dump it, it's a good time to tell them what you think of the new world order. At least your voice gets heard.
I wouldn't worry to much about it. Bought the wood cutting permit once and went to a "designated wood cutting area". Seemed like a lot of work to get anything that was good considering the area had been picked over pretty hard. Didn't bother with it again. Started doing the same thing your doing and never a problem but haven't run into any "enforcement". The last couple years we've just been running around to random campsites after may long and scooping up the leftovers. Pretty easy on the chainsaw . How does that work nowadays with the permits? Do you still have to go to a certain area?
