Lets get a photo contest going.
« on: August 15, 2011, 04:45:04 PM »
I was just thinking with hunting season coming quick it would be fun to throw a little action and game into it for us. I would like to get some kind of hunting photo contest going. Not sure exactly how to do it and or if we should do categories. I was thinking combine say 3 categories together for best say 3. We could do best outdoors, best pic with game taken and just a random it may be camp or live wildlife. Lets here some thoughts on it..

I will offer a full days fishing trip for the winner and guest if wanted for Lake Trout on Cold Lake during prime time early next summer exact time to be determined through my schedule and winners schedule and weather. I will offer everything needed, all tackle, bait safety equipment photos of day put on flash drive and fish of choice cleaned and vacuum sealed. And of course the best,, a day with me in a boat,, where you have no place to hide lol.. People can add items if they want.

I think that's a great idea Terry but I think it should be random for whoever submits a photo, some of the photos I have seen here are professional quality, some people would have way too big of an advantage over amateurs...like me  :-\

i agree with paul and im definitely interested... photo quality shouldnt be so much of an issue as what is actually being taken... i know theres some boys here with some pretty fancy photo gear... i wish my old pc didnt totally crash i had all of my hunting pics on there with no backups... never ever will i do that again

I think from what I have seen Skinnydipper and badback are going to have a pretty good advantage.  There are a few others as well that have had great photos.  Tough to make it fair.  It might be tough for the biggest animal of each species because mine are all going to make it high in the B+C this year so I will be tough to beat. ;D :o 8)

K how about just one pic say the best pic with hunter and their kill ?? We will try and not be biased as to picture quality as much as a pic that captures the essence of the hunter and the kill.

It will be open voting by all members we will run it from Sept through the end of Nov with the winner being anounced sometime in Dec.. What do you guys think.

Also, could we make it for this seasons kills only?  No old pics.
BTW, great offer Walleyes.

Sounds like it will be fun..

Paul,, Starting tomorrow I am going up to the land for a few days going to spend a week up there getting some work done and hitting the lake for a couple days. Maybe while I'm gone or when I get back we can get it going. Maybe we could get it set up as a sticky,, what do you think. We can talk more when I get back..

How about if I agree to post but not enter?
I agree with Paul, it's hard to encourage full participation when it's a competition and the spectrum of people's equipment and experience is great.

Thanks for the comment Nube...When I go out I take so many photos that I have to take my laptop with me to down load them to keep my SD card empty so I don't drain the batteries...With that many photos taken I get a couple that are good...IMHO we have many good photographers, - Dace, Alberta Diver, Sheepguide, Bambi and Sonny to name a few...I guess they could make divisions i.e. novice, amateur etc.....
