Speaking of FIRES I got this yesterday:
Based on forecasted weather and field conditions ignition operations on the Chungo, Blackstone and Wapiabi prescribed fires may commence in the next three to five days
Prescribed fire:
Restores the ecological role of fire to the area.
Encourage the recovery of native grasses and shrubs
Enhance forage and habitat for wildlife
Increase bio diversity
Create landscape-level fuel breaks to help prevent the spread of future wildfires
Reduce the risk of potential disease or pest outbreaks such as mountain pine beetle.
Increase the health of our forests as identified in the R11 management plan
Hope there aren't members out there who were planning recreation in this area for the near future.
