Lost my hunting and fishing buddy
« on: February 27, 2012, 05:03:46 PM »
Lost my dad this morning, 10 minutes before boarding our flight to Cancun got the call. Trying to get his body back from Laughlin Nevada. Not sure how he died but the coroner said it's natural causes, he was severally diabetic, but they won't say much until they ID his body.

He was my best hunting and fishing buddy. Last I talked to him I was ice fishing on last Sunday, he said he wished he was there fishing too.

I suppose we all lose our dads eventually, if your dad is still around call him today and tell him you love him, because I truly wish I could have 30 seconds with mine to let him know.

Tough one Paul.

My deepest regards to you and the family Paul these are trying times in life,, stay close with your family for a few days and recall the times you enjoyed with your Dad. I lost my Dad a few years back now and we lost the wife's Dad 2 years ago. I can say they are definitely missed but never forgotten. We talk of them both very frequently to keep their memory alive in our children and we ensure they know who they were.

My father and I were very close and my father was the only man I moose hunted with until he died. We spent countless hours together in the outdoors it took me a while but eventually I got used to him not being there. To this day when I shoot a moose or I am in the Salmon or Walleye heavy I get a smile on my face thinking of how he would love to be there with me,, and I do have beliefs that he is there with me. I also beleive we will be together again some day.

Take care Paul our thoughts are with you man..

Condolences from our family to you and yours too, Paul.  Sad day no doubt but I suppose we all have to face it sooner or later.  Keep his memory alive with you always.  I am happy to hear you were very close to him and you enjoyed hunting and fishing together.  I guess that is all that really matters in life and that we can enjoy our time with our families.  My Dad is still alive and I am dreading the day he leaves.  I took it pretty hard my my Grandpa passed.

Hang in there, Paul.
I think I see a rip in the social fabric, Brother can you spare some ammo?

Paul, tough one.  I can't imagine what your going through.  I still have mine and wish I would do more with him.  We will always have regrets no matter what but know that you will see him again Paul.  Until then enjoy the memories you did share and be greatfull he was around to be your friend as some fathers are never there for their children.

Sorry for your loss Paul, I just called my folks to tell them I love them. Not that we should need a reminder but sometimes we need a shove to take the time to do it.

Loss of a person or pet can be hard on everyone. Last weekend I had to put my fishin buddy down.
He was 15 years old. The ER Vet Hospital downtown made the journey easier for my dog and me.  He passed away in a couple of seconds.

Wish I could have 5 minutes with my dad. I will tell everyone again if you have older parents make sure you tell them all the things that you might hold back, suddenly people can be gone. The last conversation I had with my dad was while I was standing on Utikima Lake catching walleyes, and I emailed him some photos from my phone, and he called me and said "I wish I was fishing with you guys". It was the day before he died. I wish I would have told him how much I loved him, and how grateful I was for him taking me fishing and hunting. My dad lived and breathed it, even last hunting season he bagged a moose, big mule deer, and an elk, 70 years old, he was still going hard. I was able to stand up at his funeral and tell everyone what a great life he had. Wish I could have thanked him. Don't wait to thank your dad guys. Some pics of my dad.
