Lots of new members here lately and it is good to see. I think in time they will contribute. If you look at most forums it seems only a small portion of members regularly contribute.

A lot of the new members have come from the other forum
Most got burned by the cabal of teflon trolls, cronies and lackies that dominate there.
Some are left leaning others right and all have sen the pendulum
Swing both ways at aof.
They know that some old friends are hete but àlso old enemies and that most have new names

The result is that new members might be a bit gun shy and prefer to sit back to see who is who in the zoo before opening up.

Nobody wants trouble, most probably want a fresh start but they worry about being set upon by old rivals who might quickly recognize their telltale style or their position on certain subjects... Especially if they had the poor grace grace to flame others who were sent to banned camp before them which frequently happens.

I got punted from aof myself and i am a bit chaffed about how it came about.
I could troll but prefer to just show it my back.

I came here for a fresh start, a level field and conversation.... Not to refight the civil war.

I might be wrong but i suspect others might be feeling at least a little bit of what i expressed above

Good question by the way
I noticed the trend myself and had been pondering about it but was reluctant to spit out the question

well, welcome aboard.  We are a good group here that enjoys amicable discussion.  We definitely keep it civil, except for the occasional troll! :o

Well said, Rick!
Friendly and amiable is our goal, as well as minimal moderation.
Thanks for a few of the members for keeping this place going in very slow times, especially Sonny.
Walleyes, we need you back too, you have been a great supporter.

There has been a bit of a surge in new members; that is great and welcome guys and gals.
Once member numbers grow to a large figure, it is likely that we will see more trolls but that is just a fact of social media in general.  I am not sure that it is fair to dump on other forums but if a friendly tone is set from the beginning and maintained, I believe that it will be easier as we grow to maintain a better level of respect among posters.

Welcome to the forum, Marmot.

Thanks guys.

Thanks guys

Took me a bit to come out of my shell after leaving the other site.
They have had a bit of a purge starting about 9 or so months ago just before my fall from grace.

Outdoorsey types tend to be proud
We take things to heart... Likely the newer members will come round in their own time like i did

I think the op was sort of hinting that things need fertilizer to grow so the more positive feedback... Welcomed likes yours and good reads we put up... The better

Fat fingers here also. I deactivated my account on another forum due to getting an infraction for putting up a post about a certain magazine. It was from a moderator that i had met personly. It stemmed from a pm that he sent to my 12 year old son at the time. He is a real bottom feeder.

Haven't logged on here in a while, where did walleyes go? I still check in on sonnys antics every now and then ;)
One of the other forums I'm a member on has it figured out, call a spade a spade, ask questions freely and they will be answered, don't lie or tell tall tales because people will call you on your bs, don't talk smack about a mans family, and that seems to be about it. It's probably the most civil (not G rated) forum I've ever been on. Interesting how things usually take care of themselves if you let them. Hopefully a few more of the good dudes from amature outdoorsmen head over here. It's hard to get a good discussion going on here sometimes because there are so few guys that post. Hopefully that's going to change soon. Welcome nubies
Sorry I don't ice fish or hunt rabbits, but I did stay at a Holliday in express last night.

Great to see a few more posts even with a bit of "antics" and silliness once in a while.

If its the same fella that i am thinking of quite a few here already know him.
In fact, he might be a member although i never checked.

Always seemed like a good guy, very knowledable but a little too colourful for some mods.

Their loss.
