To bad, I bought a few things from them over the years. When they moved away from their surplus stuff, I think they lost their customer following. Hard to compete with the big stores, so stay unique sell the military guns and stuff. Their is a market for it.

What remains for real gun shops in Edmonton?

P&D?

Cabalas has to be hurting bad with the UFA-WSS demise in terms of inventory dumping.

With the loss of UFA-WSS watch how the prices are going to be boosted at Cabalas. Or will they?

And we are talking about guns. What about fishing stuff?  If the Fishin Hole thinks they now hold the Edmonton market, just watch.

There is one other operator who has moved into the Edmonton Sporting Goods scene.  That is Canadian Tire.  Have you ever seen a Berreta DT10 (older model) on sale for $8000?  South Common in Edmonton was selling them.

Kind of interesting.

I wonder what is going to happen when the smoke clears.

For the time being....hello St. Paul, Glendon, Lloyd....

Competition is good so it's sad when stores close. :(

But to be honest, lately I've been doing a lot of my shopping online from all across the country. ;)

There's just no money to be made in guns boys, it's  more of a service than anything else. The money is in the scopes and accessories. But if your trying to servive the whole business on it you can't do it. Canadian Tire may very well end up being one of our only options in this part of the country outside a couple specialty custom gun shops.

Our Canadian Tire only sells ammo,no guns..

And they are more expensive than Walmart for ammo... but they do have a bigger selection.

But I do shop at the smaller stores.

Ron's in Edson but sadly they closed too.

CX Shooters in Morinville

The Shootist in St.Albert

Cheapseats in Athabasca

And the outdoor store (Canadian tire) in Fort Mac...They might be a bit pricey but they do have a great selection. ;)

Plus our very own Home Hardware here in town. ;)

I am giving Fishin Hole and even Cabelas a run my online business is brisk in Alberta especially with my $99 free shipping. Sylvan store opens next week and we are looking at 2 more stores in Alberta.

Right on Paul that's good to hear.

Not sure if to worth the price or not but you should look at getting an add up on Iceshanty for the Canadian boys.

What happened with Ron's Outdoors?   > :(

I remember that place from the late 60's when it was nothing more than a dumpy little shack in the middle of Edson along the then termed "highway of death".

The business seemed to grow and prosper...then Kaput... it closed. ?
