My New Rig.
« on: June 15, 2012, 09:46:44 PM »
Couple pics of the new rig I am supervising. Well new to me, the rig was built in 2001 I beleive.

Nabors# 17, 5500m Triple with Columbia walking system for our pad work. 275,000dan hook load, 3, 12 cylinder Cat gen sets, 2, 1000 HP pumps,, big old girl. She walks but she walks slow. She sits on the ground at around 900,000lbs. We have been getting a bunch of revamping done to it for our work, have had 6 welders going at it for all most 2 weeks now. Should be ready for spud next Tues or Wen.

Always love when they build deep hole rigs and put in undersized pumps. We have really been fighting that the last few years. Nice rig Walleyes who is it going to work for? Was on most Nabors rigs but did skip that rig when I worked there.

I am with MEG now Darcy and we have it up at Christina Lake on SAGD. Little over powered for the wells but if we need it we have the power to suck on er if we need. Was chatting with the boys today and the push confirmed that our max hook load is 350,000dan not 275. To those that don't know that translates into a little better than 750,000lb hook load.. The rig was built by H&R Drilling Darcy and was part of the take over a couple years back.

Ya I was working for Nabors when they bought H+R. I worked on a couple of their rigs. Seemed like decent enough rigs. Was pretty funny at the time of the buy out as they kept the few H+R rig numbers the same and changed the numbers on the whole rest of Nabors fleet.

Funny they didnt lower the sub some to do pad work, unless thats a ton of work on them rigs. Deffinatly dont need a tone of sub hight to do these wells lol

I think the biggest draw works I worked with could pull 490,000dan in low/low. Highest I had that weight indicator at was 332,000dan on longstring casing. Not very comforting when the derrick on a 7000m rig is creeking and growning LOL

That rig you got will be one of the biggest rated pad rigs going I would think only maybe second to Akita 46(which is at Christina still I think for Devon) but it may even be down graded alot by now. Alot bigger than the pad rigs Ive been sitting on lately.

Sounds like we will be breaking a brand new PD pad rig here in a month or so and work the bugs out of it for a couple weeks then it will be headed to Christina as well for Cenovus.
