Some of you are aware of my online fishing store called The Ice Shack
www.theiceshack.ca
. What started as me selling ice shack parts out of my fab shop has grown. I am pleased to announce we are opening our first retail location in Sylvan Lake right on highway 20 in town, and an expansion of the online store. The business is being rebranded as "The Fishing Shack" and we are going to be carrying 4 season gear and really expanding into a lot of great product lines that just aren't available most places. Some of our products include
Clam
Eskimo
Shimano
13 Fishing and One Three Fishing
Vexan Rods
Lews Rods and Reels
Rapala
Marcum
Vexilar
K-Drill
Aqua Vu
PK Lures
Beaver Dam
Berkley Trilene
Lindy
Ifish Pro
Jawjacker
etc
We take possesion of the store July 1st and will be opening September, we will have 2000 square feet of good stuff. We will still be offering free shipping on orders $99 or more. I will let you guys know when we are open and when the new website will be launched.

Good for you Paul. I hope it's a success for you. It will be good having a fisherman own a fishing store for a change.
A word of caution or advice I guess, if your going to stock bait, frozen bait in particular please don't stock junk. I'm sick and tired of spending money on frozen minnows that are shit. Two or three casts and the bellies blow out. There are good ones out there, I buy good ones just over the border in Sask, I bought awesome ones down in Med Hat last week but the ones we get around here suck big time. So please my friend,, find the good ones. I'll even bulk order a case off you and vacuum seal them for my use.
Again, he's to nothing but success to you Paul and I can't wait to get down there and see the new store.
Maybe a gathering of the AS clan at the grand opening would be in order !!

Sorry Sonny no guns we are going to focus on what's made us successful so far. As far as bait Terry we intend to do bait any reccomendations would be great do you know the brand of those minnows. Anyone wants to stop in that would be great.

Hi Paul:
I like your idea of setting your marketing niche for products not regularly found.
What sort of promotional ideas do you have to make yourself known province wide?
When you get set up, send me a bunch of posters and cards. I will staple them to message boards in country stores, country watering hole, and truck stops.
I used to do that for the late Dirt Willy Pheasant Farms. Country folks actually read those boards.
Best wishes on the set up

That's awesome news Paul, not so great for my bank account though
, can't wait to visit the new shop.
As far as minnows go I'd give a vote for the Walleye master ones or Parker minnows off the top of my head, one that I'd stay away from is the lake winnipeg shiners.
