Official 2011-2012 NHL Thread
« on: July 21, 2011, 12:44:19 AM »
Well, it's been quite the offseason so far, especially for my Oilers. :)  RHN first overall, Souray is gone for good, plus the toughness we added, and all the leadership and heart Ryan Smyth will bring back to the team.  I was really hoping someone would have the gusto to throw out a big offer sheet for Stamkos though.  Like usual the Flames have not done much, and it's great that the Jets are back in Winnipeg!  Chris Osgood retiring after a 17 year career with three cups makes me think that although he didn't have the best stats, he was a heck of a goalie and a cluth game winner and he should end up in the hall someday.

Is anyone else missing picking up the paper in the morning and finding very little hockey action?  I can't wait till training camp, then the regular season to start for 2011/2012.

Very excited for the up coming season!! Working on a little deal through work to possibly score a set of Oiler season tickets!! I may be over optomistic here but I see the oilers making a run for the playoffs this season. Making it.... probably not but I think they will get close.

What do you guys think of the new Winnipeg Jets logo?  I was expecting something a little more retro to their old logo, and the jury is still out for me until I see this logo on their jerseys.  They did say that they would consider a more retro third jersey in the future similar to the older logos, so that will satisfy a lot of old school Jets logo lovers.

I am with you.  Didn't grab me at all.  Looks like some government agency logo.

Sad news for hockey fans and of course friends and family. I enjoyed watch Rick on the ice with the Canucks, he was a pretty tough customer for his size.

Just wanted to mention that the flames suck and will continue to suck. When was the last time they won a playoff series???

Well look @ the standings!  How's it feel Calgary?  Looks like you need to keep up this horrible pace so you can get a real pick and then another so you can turn your team around.  RNH looks pretty good for the Oil, I think he is staying with the big club.

Pretty quiet in here, guess that's what happens when both Alberta teams suck eh?

Anyway anyone have their pick to win the cup?

Gotta say, I'm enjoying watching some of the eastern series more than the west.   Phi/Pitt  and Ott/Rang are starting to look like some old time hockey.

I bet Daryl Sutter takes the Kings to the top just like he did to the Flames the only year he coached them. They should have gave the boot to Brent and put Daryl in the coaching position.
Anywho, some exciting playoff hockey happening.

Yes that was a good clear hit to. That'll teach Hendrix to pay attention.
I'm surprised how well LA is doing. If they beat out Vancouver (and it's looking like they will) those buggers may have a good run at the cup. Wouldn't that be Daryl Sutters revenge...suck it up Calgary.

Yes and he should have stepped down as GM and went behind the Flames bench to coach them to another run like we had in the 03-04 season.
