Official Hockey Thread
« on: March 12, 2017, 07:56:54 PM »

I know it's mindless. So Canadians play oilers in Edmonton tonite

No big deal , Habs buried oilers 4-1 , but 50 % or more fans were
wearing Canadienne Jerseys and stood and applauded for long after
the teams left the ice .
Habs played the Flames Friday , got whipped but only a few Habs Jerseys
   nothing like Edmonton .....
Winnipeg last week , solid Habs . It's been like that forever ....
No other visiting team commands that kind of loyalty in the whole
     league .
       It's truly Canadas game

Yep, even before half the east moved out here those's teams had a big fan base. Maybe because back in the old days, they where the only two Canadian teams. And it was in grained in a lot of kid's kid's.

As I was watching the oilers and the LA Kings last
Night , I had a moment of empathy for the true Oiler
Fan , the guy who has shelled out his hard earned
Bucks ,year after year , only to see them tank out .
The guy that likely soiled himself when Peter Puck
      traded the great one .
That guy has shit eating grin on his face this AM .
They handled the Kings quite handily , one of their
Top scorers had a brawl with Iggy , split decision .
All that pain and now a little relief . The only reason
I watch the oilers is for Connor MC , I appreciate
talent , that kid has some to spare .
I know it's still hockey season because it's snowing
             In Okotoks this morning .

McDavid sure made Doughty look like a dump truck when he came off the bench, in two strides he was at full throttle, got fed the puck and went around Doughty like he was standing still.  Lots more excitement to come when Eberle, Nugent-Hopkins, & Lucic get their scoring acts together!!

While on the subject of our national identity . I think last year no
Canadian team in the playoffs .......this year maybe all will be ...
Or at least 75% .... If like me  you hate it when a top player
is coasting , just out for a skate , then these final regular season
Games are the one s to watch ...its full throttle .
Something to do between hard water and soft !

Went to the Oilers game last night. The first one I have been to in years. ( I think I'm developing a phobia to, to many people in one place)Any way quite the show they put on when the player's are not on the ice. Lots of loud music and and hype, people seem to love it though. I'm  just getting to old for the energy and bright lights that was going on. The game was just ok, but the Avalanche are not very good this year so guess that's part of it. I have lost a little bit of interest in hockey over the last few years, but glad to see them head to the playoffs this year.

Now the Flames guy King is saying , if the city doesn't build
them a new arena , they are leaving ......This is Nenshi s
        San Juan hill . ....
I say don't let the door hit both of them in the ass on the

Watched it last night in between cleaning a few guns. My wife is an Oiler nut she watches most games so the TV is always on when they play. Good for them taking first place. I will watch the playoff's, maybe I can get a bit of excitement back like when I was young and enjoyed hockey.  Go oil.

This is pretty special . The NHL is not allowing its players
to participate in the 2018 Chinese Olympics .

Here s my cure ...make up a team of top draft choices ...
Most of the top Russians , Danes , Czechs , Finns , Swedes
all play in the NHL , they will all be staying home and playing
For millions . Be the closest thing to Olympic Amateurs , will
      be a good thing .

I would say if you are true oiler fan ,you slept well
And are breathing a lot easier . In a 5 to 3   win
the Ducks pretty well shut down Connor but now you
Know quite a few other soft handed players on that team .
Dare to dream, Senators vs Oilers, all Canadian ..
All Americans head right to baseball   .....Gary Bettman
has full out stroke .....I laugh and laugh ! It's our game !

If Bettman has a stroke, I just might get interested in the NHL again. He was the one that turned the NHL into a rich mans, big business game, and took it away from the common folk.

Well as far as Canadians go , we are definitely down
to the short strokes ... Sens may be out of steam
after last nights pummelling . If it ends up two
American teams I'll go fishing .lol
And so will most Canadienne fans .

No one was cheering louder than I for the Sens but
To no avail .  Couldn't beat the Pens , went 7 games ,right to
double over time . My only hope left is the Preds to knock
whining Sid and his band on their asses . I have a second
agenda , I want PK to take the Cup back to Montreal and
shove it up Bergevins , you know .  It's a complicated
Love affair me and the Habs , what can I say .

Nashville is gonna take it, their defence is just to deep and I can't help but cheer for the team that took out that garbage that is anaheim.  They had no business moving from the second round in the first place, dirty chippy team and I feel a bit of satisfaction knowing they are golfing right now.  I wonder if they crosscheck, slash and trip eachother for honours at the tee?
