old fifth wheel holiday trailer
« on: April 20, 2016, 11:22:22 AM »
I have a 25 ft 1992 fifth wheel trailer. Ten years ago I had a problem with water getting in through the roof rack and I had lots of black mold. I fixed that but now the old roof has leaked again and lots more black mold. I started to fix it but figured I was throwing good money and time after bad. Is there anywhere you can take old holiday trailers for salvage?  I would not mind finding a place where I could dump it off and let the salvage guys have at it.

Bet if you put it on Kijiji for free,(with warning of mold of course, to be parted out only) some one would be at your door in a heartbeat, lots of guys looking for the propane stoves and refrigerators.  There use to be a RV wrecker in Edmonton back 20 years ago when I did RV repair, but I think he is gone now.

As a trailer manufacturer I wouldn't recommend this most RV frames aren't built to the standard a trailer for hauling is. Also they are often designed in such a way to be conducive to the design of the specific RV. Old RVS are great if you are building a hard wall ice shack you can use the windows doors lights etc even the propane furnace if the heat exchanger is good. If you don't find a home for it let me know maybe we will salvage it and do a community ice shack project shop is slow anyways.

Is there a cure for black mold?

If so then this would make a good hunting shack/cabin..

Just a thought.

There is, but the trailer would need to be ripped apart cleaned and re-done. My experience anyway. We hand a tool crib at work I did. Realized  after I started into that I should have burned it, whole thing needed to be dissected. Safety department would not ok it unless gutted and cleaned.
