on line grocery shopping
« on: May 25, 2016, 07:25:03 AM »
I see one of the large superstores now has on line shopping.  We used to have that back in the fifties. Mom would phone the grocery store and they would deliver the groceries putting the cost on the bill.  The bill would be paid at the end of the month.  The bonus was that every small grocery store had a butcher so when the groceries were delivered we got a box of raw dog food. good to see we are going back to the old ways with grocery delivery and raw dog food.

In most of the small towns this has always been available especially for seniors. The Sobeys in LLB does it with no extra cost for seniors. One of the advantages of a small town I guess.

big bore tracked me down  ;D
Henry Zak back in the fifties and sixties made the best sausage going.  People used to come from all over the place to get their Christmas sausage. When he retired and sold out the new guy tried but could not compete with the new big grocery stores. I used to like to go to the back of Zaks and watch the butchers work.  In fact I went to night school as SAIT and took a meat cutting course. Soon found I did not like my hands in cold meat.  It is too bad that when a lot of the old timers pass on their recipes are lost.
