On to the Next Stage of my life.
« on: March 14, 2015, 08:31:01 AM »
Well as many have heard in the news, with oil and commodity prices tanking, the oil patch has slowed.
Consequently after 7 1/2 years with my company from working on lease in the mud and minus 40 to in the office teaching people to drive, I find myself without a job.

I have been working since I was 14 years old and have never been without a job for more than a couple weeks
I have endured slow downs and industry meltdowns before when on the left coast.
At 57, with fairly good health and what I think is a good outlook in life, will have to see what is in store for me.
gonna take some time to reflect and see what the next adventure brings.

Sorry to hear that Blacktail.  For what it's worth I've been self employed my whole life(which means good and bad years financially; many more bad than good).  What I've found is it's easy to make money in Canada, but it's hard to make a lot of money.  Always lot's of smaller opportunities if you look as I'm sure you'll find out.

Just keep your head up and your morals close, you'll get through just fine.

Well that sucks, hope you find another job soon.

Oil is down to $45 per barrel and it needs to go back up soon.

It's going to be a tough year for a lot of people, I think many are going to find themselves in your position. Experience and an open mind are going to prevail.

Hope the best to you blacktail, maybe send me a quick run down of your background and expectations and I will keep my ears to the ground. We are still fairly busy out in the west of the province and up in N/E, BC one never knows what can come around. The company I am with is going to run 2 rigs right through break up and will be firing up 3 more by the end of June so there is work out there and a few are working through up there.

Hope you have good luck finding a new job. I went through the same thing years ago, it all turned out for the best. Maybe you will find your dream job.
