I have seen it in use on a black bear and it was VERY effective.

I have used it on a nasty neighbour's dog.  It does not work as well as a fire extinguisher, trust me!!!!  When the dog sees me, or hears me pulling into the driveway, he leaves the area so quickly, that one would think he had Tiger Balm applies to his set of wheels. ;D
