Nube some year a must holiday to do with the kids ,is South Dakota to the Black hills. Theres Mount Rushmore, Crazy horse,Deadwood, the Lead gold mine Tour, Bear country  , The caves underground ,Sturgis ,the Cosmos house of illusion etc etc. The best holiday pulling the tent trailer with the mini van we ever did. The country we saw was amazing. We visited friends in Manitoba then headed South to North Dakota,South Dakota and came home through Wyoming and Montana.

Well i had 3 Kids and the bride with me. If you break the trip up a bit stopping along the way its not so bad. Honestly it is well worth the trip. You may however have a hard time keeping your eyes on the road checking out the landscape and the Antelope etc that seem to be everywhere in Wyoming and the NE part of Montana.

Come on out some time Nube. We will take the kids all out camping in the mountains for a few days. They will have a blast. Last year the biggest group of kids we had out was about 8 or 9. Ranging from 1 to 14yrs old. Tones to do for them. Biggest problem is they run out of day or play out. And its only 2hrs from Edmonton.
Let me know maybe we can hook up some time.

I might take you up on that Darcy.  I have things planned out for this summer though so it will have to be next year.  We have Drumheller, Miquilon lake, Pigeon, Waterton park, Old Mac donald farm and the good old Cardston Parade!  We also have a couple small 2 day trips like Pigeon and Miquilon lake and want to try and go up north, maybe to Calling lake or something.  I wanted to do a little more than this this year as I think there are better places to go but the kids got to pick some of these things which is fun for them to be involved.  Next year I thin I will look into doing a few of the suggestions that you guys gave and will do it up and have a good time.

Just my 2 cents here but, have you thought of Jarvis and or Gregg lakes in Hinton. I have 2 kids 4 and 8. There is power hook ups for trailers, fishing, boating, rental canoes, horseback rides at the entrance ranch, big new playgrounds at both locations and plenty of hiking. Jarvis offers a great beach for swimming too. I know that Switzer Park is great for kids as a whole. Your also fairly close to some good trout or Pike fishing as well. I live in Hinton and can point you in the right direction for fishing and what to use and bring.  Either way, I hope you have a great camping season and a great summer with your kids.

THC 1 that sounds exactly the right kind of thing.  I have never heard of that spot before.  Do they have a website?  I might have to try that this year for a day or 2.  My kids are 2,4 6,9 so that sounds perfect for them.

I can find out how to contact for you. It should be listed under Alberta Parks  I would think. I will contact Switzer Park and get the number to call for you on Monday.
