Score point for the good guys :) thanks for sharing! That actually relieves some of my worry....I found a small doe that I suspected someone I knew shot. He had a tag for it and so did his kids. Heck, I would have thrown my tag on it. I never want to see an animal get wasted....and for what?! It had no antlers and was just a young fawn doe. Would have been amazing eating. Traced his boot prints to his boots at camp and his quad tire as he drove up to it....wish I had the balls to put my ex's boss in his place and should have reported him anyways. Not that ill ever hunt with or near those people ever again, but still I am haunted by what that dispicable man did that day and can't forgive myself for not doing more to stop him. He put a doe tag on a buck and shot the antlers off so they were under size. ****ing sick twisted ****.

Next time I encounter a poacher I won't be afraid to report them. Even those who take does from units you can't. I don't care if you're one or six units away from where your tag is designated, if you poach around me I'm gonna stick the barrel of my gun up your ass.

Sorry, I'm all angry now lol.

In Nova Scotia, I saw fisheries take a guys truck, strip him down to his underwear (and his partner) take all their traps, scuba gear and boat/trailer for poaching lobsters from the harbour.
Huntress are you from N.S. ?

No sir, Kingston ON originally :) but left there as a child. Grew up on the West coast in campbell River, Comox, and up north in Yellowknife...lived in NS in 2008/2009. Use to be a bit of a traveller lol. I've been in AB for a decade now and call this home :) I'd totally hit up Northern AB or Northern SK though :)

How bout you? Are you from the Maritimes? I heard we have some Saskies on here :) I bet the hunting and fishing there is unreal. Kinda thinkin of makin a move that way lol.

Once I was out to an area to set up some trail cams in Oct. (the bow season for seer and grouse was open for gun).  I found a lot of heavy and fresh deer sign and thought it was a great place to set up a camera.  Then I found where someone had placed a pile of grain on the ground and that is why all the deer activity.  I lay my .410 gun on the spot and took some pictures.  Then noticed a tree stand near by.  This was on a Friday afternoon.

On Sunday I returned to look at the trail cams but walked past the area the grain spot was.  There was a good pile of grain at the spot.  I took more pictures.  I gave the pictures to F&W officer and gave a statement with dates and times.

He put my name in to Report a poacher for a reward and spent some time on the investigation, even putting out trail cams to try and photo the baiter.  Then it snowed and the officer followed tracks to and from the tree stand.

He eventually found the fellow and while standing beside the guys truck could see a bag of grain in the back.  H confronted the fellow about putting out grain near his tree stand.  The fellow smuggly said he had been putting out grain there for trail cam purposes but had stopped when the season started.  The officer took notes at the guys addmition he had done so.  Then he brought out the pictures with the dates on them and the poachers jaw dropped.  He spilt his guts and in the end plead guilty.

I got some $ reward.

If you think there has been an offence gather as much information and evidence as you can and provide it to F&W enforcement.

Huntress, yes I am from N.S. but been out west a long time. Right now I reside at our cabin in Sask, still own property in Alberta. Yes, there is some great hunting and fishing here in Sask and if you ever come over look me up , I'll show you around and take you out fishing if you like. I'm always looking for a partner to go after those lake trout.

Eeeeeeeeee!!!! That might work out swimmingly LOL. My friend just bought a farm out that way. And he's an Alberta boy, ill go stay there and we could really use someone who knows the region to share some insight into what's what around there :) that's really cool! I can't wait to see it out there...been getting job postings for SK since last August, and have considered moving out there many many manyyyyy times. But I totally want to see it first as its literally one part of Canada I haven't lived. That and Quebec....lol

Hahahaha! Now I'm in a much better mood. Had some serious buzzkill happenin' from the Caribou thread lmao.

Do I have a deal for you Huntress.  38 acres, along an abandoned CP railway grade across the road from the city of Humboldt.  4th St. runs into our old farmyard.  Water and sewer are across the road, quite accessible.  When I was a kid many years ago, my father and I would walk the CP line(active at the time) hunting Hungarians & Sharptails.  We owned the land on both sides of the track for 4 miles.  Great times with my father.  The old bugger taught me how to hunt upland, migratory, and pretty much anything that was available.
