Spent a few days at Lake Iosegun and had no problem filling our class C tags, no surprise there.

So then we thought we'd troll for awhile to see if we could find a pike that was bigger than the hammer handles that were mixed in with the small walleye.

Well no pike bigger than about 3 lbs.

And then I had a hard hit.It turned out to be a 12 inch walleye that hit a 5.5 inch Rapala Husky Jerk.

So my question is.......Little walleye on steroids or little walleye so hungry that he'll hit anything?

I'm thinking walleye was starved due to lack of feed in this lake.

Sounds like a good trip Sonny. It's amazing sometimes the size of lure small fish will hit and also it's unreal the size of fish you will find in some fish from time to time. I would assume they're like dogs and don't know how big they are in comparison to other fish.

Nice work Sonny nothing tastier than that. It is kinda weird how a littler fish will hit something half the size of them sometimes. I'd agree it's more likely on a lake that has a low food base but I've had it happen on lakes that are healthy as well. Walleye can be such a moody fish imho.

I honestly believe smaller fish taste better.

For example, small perch make excellent roll - mops.

And smaller chunks of fish flesh seem to deep fry in a light batter.

It seems larger fish bring fish oil problems with them. Even when smoking.

What do you gentlemen think?

Yes sir she was a cool one today.

4C at noon but did warm up to 8C by late afternoon.
