Yep, and so cloudy here, it's dark already at 9:15. But good news is hunting season is closer, and in a few months the frost will kill the dam mosquito's. But I'm not ready for that yet. Still need to feel the warm sun on my face and birds singing at 4 in the morning, enjoy it while we can I guess.

Incredible,, it's too bad a human has to die to achieve such a feat but,, put the gun down when the popo tells you too I guess.

Amazing feat, I read that snipers miss more than hit at long distance like that. I would think so, the wind alone would be impossible to beat. I wonder how many bad guys every wondered what the whizz was when the bullet missed by a bit. That far away 10 seconds later, you wouldn't hear a gun shot I'm sure. Hope this doesn't inspire hunters to get into the long range kills, I'm no a fan of it. Paper is ok.

Anybody want rain on the weekend? We're thinking of cutting hay.

So helping son put up hay he's doing small squares first(alf/brome/tim). Everything's going great then baler 1 starts cutting strings and 2 quits knotting.
Tell him screw it, on to rounds, fix the knotters later.
He checks his tally and has, get this, 666 bales in the barn(was planning on a thousand).
..........and then it rains an eighth of an inch. haha
Neighbor raises chickens and is always dropping off fresh picked veggies, told him to give neighbor a few bales for chickens to change the number before we start rounds.
On the plus side he's getting just under 3 tons/ac first cut on new land that he fertilized.
Makes you think agrologists are worth their wages.
Price the rained on rounds according to those who bale swamp grass and weeds for fun and beer money to get rid of them and back on to quality hay.

Gave 3 bales to a neighbor for his chickens, came home and both are working fine, just need some thicker twine.
Now I'm not superstitious but..............

I remember loading bales on those little racks to make a small pyramid.
And later a bunch of us would stack those little pyramids on a wagon.
And then we would stack the wagon stuff in the covered bale barns.
And then the New Holland bale picker upper came along......Yes there is a god.

Yup, sons first foray into hay. For this year we're handbombing them. Told him next yr it's balepicker or by himself.
This'll give him enough to test the market anyway to see if small squares are worth it. When young used to love tossing bales for the neighbors; cash money in my jeans that turned itself into a roadrunner. Now, however, it just makes me feel old.........very, very old, and very tired.

Good to hear you got stuff running Bruce.
There's a pretty decent market out there for square bales I think, horse owners still prefer them. Hope your son has good luck selling them. Although in the coming years there may be a better market in baling the other kind of hay 😉
